  1. Who was likely all hopped up on something as well. I don’t know when it happened but isn’t it widely considered just about every player was taking greenies on a somewhat daily basis. There are stories about how most teams just had a candy bowl of them for players to grab. Fairly sure Aaron and others took them (and I’m not saying it’s that “bad” or the same as HGH mind you)
  2. theres no such thingI wasn't editorializing, but that's obviously why it's getting so much attention and that's how a lot of voters will view it. I haven’t really gotten that vibe at all. It’s been much more AL/Yankee record being brought up from what I have heard (and I agree with). It’s cool and historic in that right but only meatballs are saying “TRUE HR KING”. I have been pleasantly surprised to have not heard much on that front.
  3. Technically 4 games as they went into the ASB with a win. #WeAreGoodAgain
  4. Yep. And Morel and Wisdom. Just wish we could have seen Davis this year but oh well.
  5. I don’t recall anyone on this board wanting to sign him?
  6. That trade makes no sense for the Mets, imo, even if they need pitching. Smith can play some OF at least. Hosmer is 1B/DH only and so is Alonso and then they got Cano, Davis, Canha, McNeil who all really can’t play a lot of (if any) positions positively and probably should be DH’s. Back2Banks this is your time to shine, bud! 3 team trade ideas needed!
  7. I honestly don't believe its luck, its surely by design, for whatever reason the NCAA is out to horsefeathers over Illinois and I don't know why. The only thing Underwood can do is keep getting them in, one of these years, despite the NCAA' efforts, the match up dominoes are going to fall the Illin' way. Shouldn’t this be moved to the conspiracy theory thread?
  8. Why spend $4 million on a backup SS when you have Hoerner and Alcantra making league minimum? This sounds like another "we didn't trade Darvish for financial reasons" and "signing Gomes doesn't mean we're trading Contreras" statement. Because 4 MM is not a lot of money in MLB terms (as David has already stated). It's nothing and throwaway money. And you do remember that the Cubs already spent big on Marcus Stroman right before the lockout, correct?
  9. Obviously not a long term absence but I believe his kid got married and he was out for that. Maybe some health stuff but he also could have just asked off for a lot of time last year, too. Either way he’s the best and this is amazing news.
  10. Apparently most likely scenario would be if one of LSU (no coach, NFL prospects, COVID issues) backs out of the 1/4 game against Kansas St. Or I guess if KSU had to cancel for whatever reason. UCLA didn’t even notify NCSU there were any concerns. They all found out via Twitter about 4 hours from kickoff while in the stadium. Well I guess at the park, not stadium. Would have been cool seeing Petco host a football game with that backdrop.
  11. exactly. he's on the best team in baseball and he's kris bryant. of course he's going to be fine and say things like that. i'm happy for him and best of luck to him always. it's not like he said he wished he never won the WS in 2016 or anything. it's time to let them go.
  12. in my mind OMC and seth smith will always be synonymous
  13. As a Washington NFL fan I'm in the group to keep Washington Football Team name.
  14. He may be. He was a bit of a late riser due to the reclassification, and there was talk of him sneaking in at the end of the 1st round. But we'll find out soon enough. Obviously we all hope he isn't. What makes me suspicious that you’re more correct than not is that he’s the lone draftee from the first 10 rounds who’s bonus hasn’t been announced. sometimes physicals just take a little longer to get done. id guess we hear something over next day or two either way.
  15. Just wanted to post in the only game thread that had two total posts.
  16. My biggest takeaway too. Maybe people are paying with crypto?
  17. Got ya. Yeah I’m sure it’s not normal at all (from statistical standpoint) but it’s not mind blowing.
  18. I think OMC was saying he was just doing the math in his head which is immediately what I was doing. But could be wrong.
  19. Hey maybe you can branch out and create a separate forum just for the Bears if you are feeling ambitious. This is a super site, sir. All of life’s questions are answered within this domain. Nothing else is needed.
  20. Dodgers Padres is next week. People keep complaining on Twitter and the poor MLB intern is responding to all and asking them to wait a single week.
  21. 13 runs yesterday means one thing for sure. They decided it was time to cubtogether finally.
  22. I'm sure teams will be lined up to give a "solid return" for a 33 year old reliever who hasn't pitched well since 2018 and is earning $16 million. Do you know how baseball works? Did Ernie Banks ever make 16 MM in one year??
  23. Just let the man go by whatever name he wants to go by. If Boog stuck it stuck. Period. I mean he’s a baseball announcer (a really good one). It’s not like he’s holding a high political office. He talks about baseball (and to be honest I wouldn’t care if my Senator went by Boog if he was a good senator). It’s just an odd thing to care about.
  24. I mean, there's ALWAYS the risk that Tatis "Mike Hampton"s himself and is out of the game in two years, but yeah, I'm all for saying "horsefeathers it" to all the arbitration years and just locking up your obvious superstar mike hampton is such a weird name to bring up as your example for this lol My uncle ran into Mike Hampton at an airport and said “aren’t you Mike Hampton?”. Mike replied “no” and walked away. I’m convinced to this day that what my uncle saw was Mike clearly ashamed of his contract and didn’t want anyone to recognize him or his contract. Let’s all hope this doesn’t happen to Fernando.
  25. I mean, there's ALWAYS the risk that Tatis "Mike Hampton"s himself and is out of the game in two years, but yeah, I'm all for saying "horsefeathers it" to all the arbitration years and just locking up your obvious superstar But at what cost to your overall budget? I’m conflicted now.
