Hudson had to be treated for dehydration after leaving the game.

Link.

Hudson, who allowed just one earned run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings, seemed to be tiring during the seventh inning. When he left the game and went to the clubhouse, many of his body parts began to cramp.

"He couldn't bend his fingers," Braves manager Bobby Cox said.

When the clubhouse was opened to the media, the Braves said that Hudson was unavailable to talk. He was still in the trainer's room with an IV providing him fluids.

Z should have introduced him to the banana-heavy regiment on gamedays.

A walk-off beaning ... now I've seen everything :D

Todd Walker vs. the Sox a few years ago. It was too complete the sweep as well.

Yep. Sunday night ESPN game and it was a pitchers duel between Rusch and Buehrle

That was a walk.

I remember that game very clearly. Wasn't it raining hard, Sosa hit a HR, and made a great catch to end the threat in the 8th?

I'm pretty sure that was the Saturday game of that same series.

Sosa couldn't have made any catches to end the 8th in that game; it was called after 6 due to rain. The box score says Crede flied out to right for the final out of the 6th and thus the final out of the game, though.

If Rob's too drunk to start the next thread, someone needs to spot start.

Poor Rob, hopefully the big guy isn't in a drought.

I'd rather not kill our mojo though. I say we wait it out.

The Cubs continuing to win has made the Lakers laying an egg in the Finals much, much easier to handle.

According to ESPN, Rob Dibble hit Rey Sanchez 16 years ago for the last time the Cubs won on a walk-off HBP.

And, here it is. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN199207080.shtml

Oddly enough, also a 3-2 game in extras, and also tied in the bottom of the ninth on a HR.

Dibble actually intentionally walked Doug Dascenzo with runners on 1st and 3rd with one out...

I never realized Dawson and Sosa played on the same team. 92 was the only year for that. That was an interesting year for Cubs, past and present. Had a lot of players on the team still from the 89 playoff team. On that team were a lot of legendary names for our generation's Cubs....Walton, Dunston, Sosa, Dawson, Grace, Sandberg, Maddux, Girardi, Villanueva.

Game Thread for today? Is there a pinch-hitter to fire up today's thread?

Rob's been getting them up between 9-noon. i'd give him a few more hours, especially considering it's a night game.

Ok somebody tell me why the fans at the game yesterday didnt give Edmonds a curtain call? Seriously, I know he was a Cardinal, but get over it, the guy just hit a game tieing HR in the bottom of the 9th. Give the guy a curtain call, hell they gave Soto one the night before and his HR wasnt near as big as Edmonds was.

Maybe they turned their attention to DeRosa to see if he could win the game. After Soto's AB the following hitter didn't really matter. I dunno, I'm spitballing.

Yea I dont know I just found it odd, and the only reason I could think of was because it was Edmonds.

So that would be why Kosuke was hanging around the family room before the game. Interesting.

Also, Rob, sober up and start the game thread

They probably have developed my philosophy regarding Jim Edmonds. I will accept any contributions he makes, and I will hope for him to do well for the sake of the Cubs, but I just can't like the guy.

Maybe that will change in time as well, because my previous stance was to boo him at all costs and despise any contribution he makes.

It actually irritates me to completely change my stance on someone based on their performance. I hate knowing that the only reason I like my favorite players is because they play baseball exceptionally well. I guess, being that I don't know any of them personally, thats how it goes, but I still want to pretend that its not the case, and want to keep telling myself I hate Edmonds because he's kind of a jerk.

i thought i remembered a very long ovation for edmonds. to the point that i remember thinking derosa should probably step out of the box. i wasn't there or anything and may be remembering wrong.

I guess Im well past the "its Jim Edmonds" stage. The guy has contributed pretty damn good as a Cub. Add in the fact that it burns the hell out of Cardinal fans, Im actually beginning to like Jimmy(not like that, not that there is anything wrong with that). If you read gatewayredbirds right now, its pretty damn comical. Seriously, check this out in one of the Edmonds threads there.

I'd sooner see him get boo-ed than cheered when he comes back to Busch. I think its fine that he signed with the Cubs, thats not my problem, its how he's carried himself with them. Chest & Back bumping Fukudome/Soriano in the outfield, smiling with our enemy like its Game 6 of the NLCS 2004. Sure its a business, and he has to try and overcome a lot of animosity to win their fans' hearts, but in this case he should only do it with his bat, not antics, less he wants to alienate his biggest fanbase

No. Go find a video of the final out of the game I'm talking about and get back to me. He showed more excitement for one win against the Colorado Rockies then should have been, it was like his NLCS homerun or winning the WS. He has a brand new restaurant in St. Louis, which is going to be filled with customers of his former fanbase. He'll probably play at most 2 more years, he should be concerned about how he is rememebered and his restaurant as well as his current career. He can earn the respect of his teammates, cub fans, and not stir up the pot to where he turns the home of his legacy against him. Advocating burning bridges which hold admiration for decades in exchange one or two years of your life is insanely stupid, especially since he can meet his ends without starting the fire.

Its pure comedy over there regarding Edmonds right now, and I love it.

They are saying that he shouldn't cheer when the team he plays for wins games? I don't get it. I hope people realize that rivalries mean almost nothing to the actual players.

Also, just knowing Edmonds' personality the little that I do, I don't think he really cares all that much what casual fans think of him. The die hard Cardinals fans are smart enough to realize why he is acting the way he is..

Man, that is funny. God forbid he enjoys himself as a Cub.
