I don't understand this Escobar love.

Escobar bats second in the Huntsville lineup.

He is then followed by....

Gamel

Salome

LaPorta

Gillespie

Errecart

He would see a lot of strikes with pitchers recognizing who's to follow. That's probably why his slg percentage has gone up. Although he is still only 21 years old. So, the other side of the coin is that he could be learning/adjusting and be coming into his own a bit as he gets more professional experience.

That learning/adjusting is going to have to include learning how to walk or hit for power.

If he continues to have the players that he does behind him in the lineup then his best bet is to hit for power, imo. His power numbers have gone up, so maybe he his learning/adjusting in that area.

Personally, I don't like Escobar either. If I'm the Brewers I want LaPorta & Michael Brantley. I also happen to like Caleb Gindl in A+.

It is shaping up to be what could be a long race between 3 teams for 2 playoff spots.

The rotation of Sheets, Sabathia, Parra, Suppan, and the suddenly unbeatable Bush becomes a formidable rotation, and god help us if Gallardo end up coming back.

Here's a little more on what might be going down.

A couple of club sources have told me the Brewers and Indians are still in heavy negotiations to try to conclude a deal for Cleveland left-hander C.C. Sabathia.

The Indians are off tomorrow and a reporter in Cleveland told me he has been giving indications that a press conference will be taking place. That makes sense because it's much easier to announce big deals on off days.

Laporta not in starting lineup tonight at huntsville

Oh well it is a rental. Hopefully Gamel is in the deal as well.

i know melvin is capable of some stupid moves, but i can't see that being a possibility.

It's now really, really important that the Cardinals go away quietly.

i think this is happening already, holes in their rotation are sho :good: wing

i guess it's not totally impossible that the brewers could keep sabathia long term, but they're certainly not keeping sheets and sabathia, so beyond this year there won't be much impact. that does give them a very tough top 2, though, assuming health (which is always questionable with sheets)

Unless they offer him some ridiculous deal, hes going to test the free agent market. Even if they do, his agent knows that the Yankees, Mets, or another pitching desperate big money team will trump the offer. Nobodys going to feel sorry for the Brewers, as they knew what they were doing going into the deal.

If this deal does go down either today or tomorrow, Hendry needs to step it up in the next week and make a move right away, showing that no matter what the Brewers do, the Cubs will always be ahead- at least this year anyways.

Wow, on the surface this seems like a really dumb move for the Brewers. If LaPorta goes in the trade, they are morons.

They will be scary this year though for sure.
