I hate that CC is coming into the division but I'm not that bent out of shape about it. I'm glad it's a guy who pitches once every 5 games as opposed to a guy who hits every day. This makes Milwaukee very tough but they still have a lot of question marks with Sheets' health (as always) and their pen. If Hendry can land Burnett or Harden and stay away from Wolf and Maddux (I don't have great confidence that he will), then I'll be even less concerned.

 

I'm not sure Sheets is going to make it through the season.

 

He's #1 on the PAP. Sabatha is 5th.

You didn't need to mention he was #1 in PAP, you could have just said something like this, "I don't think Ben Sheets will make it through the season because he's Ben Sheets."

 

I figured I would use that as an indicator.

 

God knows Ned Yost will probably make Sabatha #2 behind Sheets in the PAPs.

I think the acquisition of Sabathia makes the Brewers essentially the same team they were before Gallardo was injured, maybe slightly better.

 

Unfortunately for them, that bullpen is going to be their downfall.

Oakland is now 6 GB of the Angels and 4 GB in the wildcard. Beane seems like the kind of realist that knows the A's aren't nearly the team the Angels/Red Sox are. Lets send Harden packing, Billy. Give up a few good prospects for Harden, then Cedeno and crap for Burnett.

So by looking at a few posts in this last page, and thread topic line, Brewers have actually landed Sabathia?! Figures. (if so)

 

But with Z, Demp, & [as of the last month or so] Lilly; we don't need a CC Sabathia to win it all. Sure would have been nice to get CCS, but if we could get a Burnett type guy to fill in the 3rd spot in the rotation - or someone to either put in the 2nd spot, or even a lesser guy to be the #4 - we should be ok come playoff time.

I want him to just come out swinging like a madman. Snatch up Harden, Burnett, and Milton Bradley. I don't think any of them would cost all the much. Harden maybe, but his injury history cheapens him a good bit, I think. Right now the Brewers are probably feeling on top of the world. This would send them right back down.

This might be wishful thinking, but it wouldn't really surprise me to see Sabathia kind of stink up the joint, at least not perform up to expectations. He's never seemed like a guy who handles pressure well, and I don't really like the way he mailed it in during all over his playoff starts last year

lets be realistic here. There are other contending teams in need of pitching, and they will be pushing just as hard for these guys. I think Hendry can pull a rabbit out of a hat and get one, but I dont see him getting both. If we are going to get Harden, were going to give up a lot. Probably more than hes worth.
