I'm not sure how I feel about taking Soriano out the day after he finally looked somewhat competent at the plate. Other than that it's a pretty good lineup.

It may have something to do with the type of pitcher the Cubs are facing or his leg doesn't feel well.

Soriano went 2/5 yesterday while getting robbed on a line drive that should have made him 3/5... and we sit him today.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Volquez has yet to give up more than 1 run in a start. Oh good. God damn Texas Rangers. I guess he was given up on by the same organization who traded Chris Young and Adrian Gonzalez for scraps. That GM doesnt still have a job, does he?

Still, pitching has always been the problem for them. I guess they didnt know hed get that good.

Hopfully, today is the begining of his downfall and it wont matter.

Can you imagine if their rotation consisted of:

C. Young

Volquez

Danks

Milwood

Obviously their numbers wouldn't have looked as good in that park, but still.

Young is great in the cow pasture that the Pads play in, but his flyball tendency makes me think he probably would only be a serviceable 5th guy pitching in Arlington 1/2 his starts.

Soriano isn't 100%. A rest today with the off day tomorrow is probably just enough to get him to 100% by Friday. He probably won't sit again for a long time. I have no problem with him getting today off. It's a lot better to get a guy a day off after a good game rather than sit him after an 0-5, when he doesn't get a chance to redeem himself.

Meh, he had a 4.35 ERA in Arlington in 2005, which is decent for a team that plays in that park.

But yeah we all know about his ridiculous FB% that works in Petco, although his GB/FB ratio was a higher when he pitched for the Rangers.

Why is MLBTV telling me that its regular form is premium form and telling me to pay more for it?

Ronny missed yesterday's game? He sounds like hell.

No, ronny was there yesterday and sounded like crap then too. He actually sounds better today.

Didn't miss what I heard of yesterday's game. He sounded like hell then too.

I would have liked to hear yesterday's game, but I missed the entire thing due to a "beverage servers" class I had to take for work.

Volquez can be beaten. He's prone to walk people (4.5 per 9). And gave up a lot of long balls in his time in Texas. Gotta be patient with him and make him throw his fastball from behind in the count. I like the Soto/Cedeno combo in the 6-7 spots today. Neither played last time the Cubs faced Volquez, and both are swinging the bat well enough to do some damage today.

Yeah, he sounds better today. By the third inning yesterday, you could barely hear him. Of course, I think he actually did start to say something while pushing his cough button down at one point.

I ponied up 30 bucks I don't have for the premium upgrade. It's definitely a lot nicer-looking than regular though.

Theriot, whom I have recently been forced to agree does not suck at baseball but is still worse than Cedeno, draws a walk.

You don't need to editorialize it. it's just a walk.
