Arizona beat U-Dub in Seattle 96-87.

UCLA beat Oregon State in Corvallis 71-56 to go to 14-0.

Coulda been a battle of undefeateds when UCLA plays Oregon on Saturday, but USC beat the Ducks today in Eugene.

Bring it, Jackson State/SWAC fans.

:)

ETA:

1-seed - UCLA

2-seed - Arizona

5-seed - Oregon

7-seed - Washington

12-seed - Washington State

Last 4 out - USC

I think at the end of the year, all 6 will be in.

Illinois :x

Why does your basketball team have to suck the minute I reach your campus?

At this rate we wont even make the tournament. NIT here we come!

Can't wait for January 20th at Pauley vs the Wildcats:

"We're the standard. I don't think they are the standard," Arizona sophomore Marcus Williams said of the Bruins.

That game will be awesome.

Wow, bracketology has what exactly to base their first seeds on? Whatever, someone save that page just so we can see how unbelievably wrong they are.

It could be worse. The crappy big program in a large conference that you cheer for could have a NCAA drought of 10 years (michigan).

(waits for Jon's response)

I knew this was going to happen. The Oregon player shooting the FT's was Aaron Brooks. He made the first, missed the second, and intentionally missed the third. Oregon couldn't get a shot off and fall from the ranks of the unbeatens.

You knew that exact sequence would happen?

I knew he was going to miss at least one of the three FT's. Not the sequence though.

ETA: After all, his name is Aaron Brooks.

Obviously, because a lot will happen between now and then. Lunardi is pretty good at picking the tourney, so it's fun and useful to see where different teams are at different points in the season. For example, I can see that Mizzou is a bubble team right now.

Holy Cross in the 4 years before I went there: 69-45, 1 Patriot League title, 3 winning seasons

Holy Cross while I was there: 32-77, 0 winning seasons (best record: 10-18)

Holy Cross in the 6 years after I graduated: 124-62, 5 winning seasons, 3 Patriot League titles (the 3 years immediately after I graduated), 1 NIT appearance.

Plus, the football team went 11-33 while I was there, then went 7-4 right after I left. So, it could be worse.

My years coincided with just about the best 4 year run in U of I basketball history. It also coincided with just about the worst 4 year run in football.

ND's heading to Georgetown tomorrow and the Verizon Center, where they've been near-money under Brey (beat MD and Texas there in 02-03, beat Gtown there a few consecutive times until last year, and beat MD there again this year).

Ball State hosts Toledo in the MAC opener. Time to put the train wreck of an OOC season behind us.

Too bad Ryan Appleby wasn't around so Brooks could punch him again.

DePaul dropped their Big East opener 64-53 to St. John's. The Big East is brutal

Penn State travels to Purdue today for their first Big 10 road game.

Are there any Illini fans who would like to see someone grow some today and take it right to Greg Oden? I'm thinking if you keep taking to Oden he'll eventually get into foul trouble.

Apparently not if you are at Ohio State, you can't :D. I actually didn't get to see the IU-OSU game the other night, I just heard a great deal of complaining about the foul disparity (OSU shot 35 FT's, IU shot 11). While Oden did get into foul trouble in the second half, apparently there were 2 or 3 obvious fouls in the first half he got away with (not post battles either where they could call it anytime, but hitting a guy's arm while taking a shot for example). Again though, I'm not complaining about it, and am not even sure it's true because I didn't see it.

Anyway, I see now the game is at Illinois. Good luck.

woohoo, free preview of ESPN Full Court for those with proper cable/satellite systems.

Georgetown is laying the lumber to Notre Dame in DC, it's 23-9 with 6 mins left in the half.

Georgia is hanging with Florida in Gainesville midway through the first half.

Purdue with a slim lead on Penn St. in West Lafayette midway through the first half.

EDIT: 29-9 now after an oop, Notre Dame is shooting 16% from the floor

Mizzou opens up conference play against Iowa State tonight, shouldn't be a problem. *crosses fingers*

I'm leaving for Columbia in about an hour. Hopefully there's a strong crowd with conference play starting and on the weekend. There were 10k for Southern last weekend with no student presence, I'm hoping for better than that.
