Reports out of Manhatten. KS say K-State's freshman star Bill Walker tore his ACL yesterday.

Terrible news for K-State, the Big XII, and Bill Walker if true. He's a high-flyer who relies on athleticism, and some guys never recover from that.

Read an article about Walker in this week' Sporting News apparently, when one speaks to him, in say, English, that's not what he hears. That is, he doesn't process English as English rather, some mutated form of English.

The Hooisers have really impressed me this year. With their play recently, I feel that have separated themselves from the Big Ten pack and fall just below Wisconsin, OSU. If Wisconsin and OSU trip up somewhere, I wouldn't be surprised to see Indiana make the Big10 REALLY interesting.

One thing IU has going for them (in the race for 3rd in the Big Ten) is that they only play OSU and Wisconsin once each. Very lucky scheduling break there.

Big win, in more ways than one for IU today. 73-51 was the final score, but the key numbers were 20-8, 24-4, and 17-2. Those numbers were IU's advantages in turnovers, points off turnovers, and 2nd chance points.

I've never seen an IU team beat an MSU teams on the board like that. The talent level is definitely down in E. Lansing, but they were still the #24 team. And that's a huge conference win for a team that hasn't been able to win the big one so far.

All the numbers you stated were very encouraging. Another thing I was really pleased with was their ability to score despite shooting poorly from beyond the arc. That's something they haven't shown to date. Stemler did a nice job of using his quickness advantage by driving to the lane, instead of settling strickly for jumpers. And of course DJ was solid. Probably his best game to date other then maybe the UK game.

North Carolina is the new #1. UCLA dropped to third.

This is the one and only reason why I don't want a College Football playoff. The rankings don't matter as they mean nothing in College Basketball until the very last one.

ND only falls to 22 - still ahead of Georgetown at 26, who just whipped us. Seems the voters have decided it was a fluke. They're probably right, but we'll see what happens when the Mountaineers visit tomorrow night.

Sampson has done a good-to-excellent job this season. 4 losses on the road to ranked teams by an average of 5 points. If they could have back the UK and/or Duke games....they'd be in business.

I hate pollsters. We get 10 votes in one poll and none in the coaches poll. Screw the damn coaches. The MVC is the 2nd highest conference in the land and there are NO MVC teams in the top 25. Talk about a joke. Our three losses were against very solid teams in Arkansas, Indiana, and UNI and we're barely getting any votes. It's real frustrating that the damn pollsters still do not recognize the MVC as one of the better conferences in the land.

Walker out for the year with a torn ACL.. UGH!!!!!! I hope Huggins can start to win the close games that Wooldrige couldn't win last year with these same guys! THIS SUCKS! No link yet, just inside info from a friend in the KSU athletic dept! To top it all off.. 3/4 of our football staff is leaving as of today...after 1 Freaking year with Prince. Sad day for KSU sports.

There's only 2 ranked teams with 3 losses right now. UNI is the only MVC team with 2 losses and they haven't gotten any hype because they weren't supposed to be at the top and they don't have any marquee wins. Regarding SIU, their 3 losses are all to quality opponents, but who's their best win, Wichita? At this point in the season it's who you beat that gets you put in the Top 25. Take Mizzou for example. As of last week's polls, their two losses were to quality opponents(Purdue and Illinois) and they had shellacked a decent team in Arkansas, but they had a combined 1 vote. They aren't going to get any now if they continue to blow double digit leads at home to Iowa State, but if SIU or any other valley team continues to play well they will move up through attrition.

Are those assistants just quitting football, or are they following someone to another job? I've heard Prince can be an abrasive personality.

D Coordinator, Dbacks Coach, Strength and Cond. Coach, Offensive Coordinator are what I've been told so far. Gopowercat.com has only confirmed D Coordinator and S/C coach.

Morris (D. Coordinator) back to coach at Tampa Bay in the NFL

Cole (S/C coach) to take the same role at A&M

Franklin (OC) rumored to be leaving

Mccarthy (O-Line, Asst HC) rumored to be leaving

All this, and I'm still more pissed about B. Waker!!!

Wichita and Virginia Tech are our best wins.

IMO, I think the Valley is qualified enough to have their teams move up the rankings due to playing well and not just because of attrition. At the end of the year, there should easily be 4 teams (SIU, WSU, UNI, MSU) in the tournament and maybe a 5th in Creighton if they can ever get it in gear. But that's not my point. My point is that the MVC has the 2nd highest rated conference in terms of RPI. The RPI has always been a signifant contributer of who makes the tournament, but it seems like the pollsters and the tournament committee seem to ignore the MVC's success. Case in point, Missouri State had the #23 RPI in the land last year and was left out. Do you think that a team from a "power" conference would make the tournament if they had the #23 RPI in the country? Of course.

I'm just frustrated that the MVC's success last year, and even greater success up to this point this year, seems to not matter to the people conducting the polls. Most of those teams in the top 25 have played 80% of their games at home while we have already played 10 of 15 games on the road. Teams like ND and UConn have no business being in the top 25. How does ND hold a spot in the top 25 after being crushed by Georgetown? How is UConn easily in the top 25 stilll? Who is their best win this year? Stony Brook?

I just find it laughable how people can take these polls seriously with the "big boys" getting all of these votes after playing cupcake schedules up to this point. But at least there's a tournament in college basketball to make up for the pollsters constant biases.

Notre Dame beat Bama and Maryland. UConn is #24 with only 2 losses, vote wise they're closer to not getting any votes than they are to #20 Memphis. The MVC has 4 teams getting votes, all of them in double digits. If they keep winning they'll get their due, same as any other team(major conference or not, see my Mizzou example).

Polls are dumb, don't worry about it.

Besides, how does SIU get 10 votes in the AP and IU only gets one? Especially since IU beat them. I think SIU is a fine squad and the whole MVC should get more respect, but they proved their worth when it counted in the tourney last year.

number 882 last night. Looked like the refs won't have to worry about their annual hearing examines after last night. Both Bob's were giving them an earful (and they deserved it).

The loss of Walker is huge for KSU but ol' Huggie will adjust. He may struggle because of the loss of Walker. Just wait until that class comes in next year. And it looks like Campbell may turn into a pretty decent center as well.
