UCLA down 28-24 to WSU at halftime, looking sloppy and the refs are making some questionable calls both ways.

How bad are the refs? Howland was actually mad at them and not at his players at one point. I've never seen Ben yell at a ref before.

Ball State gets to be clobbered by IU tomorrow. The MAC season will seem like a cakewalk compared to OOC play.

SIU blew out Illinois State in both teams first conference game of the season. The Dawgs won 68-49. Even though it was only Illinois State (a team that is most likely destined to finish in the bottom 3rd of the MVC), blowing out a conference opponent on the road is always an impressive win. Combine that with the fact that we hardly blow out anyone we play, and I am thrilled with the result tonight.

Wichita State at SIU on New Year's Day. That should be a fun one.

Went to the DePaul-Northwestern State game today. DePaul blew them away 97-67. Sammy Mejia blew up for 40 points in the game. He was on absolute fire in the first half. DePaul is now 7-1 in December and has improved its record to 9-5. Could be a sleeper tourney team in the future now that they are on track.

Oh and wtf is up with Illinois? Losing to Xavier? Not one quality OOC win for Illinois.

It's called talent. We haven't bothered adding any the last three years. Jamar Smith withstanding.

Ugh, ND point guard Kyle McAlarney was arrested on marijuana possession hours after the Rider game. He's been suspended for at least the Stony Brook game today and I'd be shocked if he didn't miss a significant chunk of conference season too. What an idiot.

IU beat Ball St. pretty handily last night, 71-57. Ball St. got to w/i 10 2 minutes into the 2nd half, but was behind at least 20 for the majority of the final half.

IU is finally starting to look like a Kelvin Sampson team, with again just 8 turnovers and again holding an opponent under 60.

Still lacking a signature win that makes the team a tourney lock, but does have a win over So. Illinois (at home) who looks to be a tourney team. They will get plenty of chances though, with a road game vs. Ohio St. to start the conference season.

Right now, we look like the 6th-7th best team in the Big Ten. But I think Illinois, Purdue, and Michigan St. are very beatable, and a finish in the top 3-4 in conference would be a great season.

As Raw pointed out, we lost to IU to fall to 4-9 on the year. The best thing you can say about this team is that they played a lot of good teams in OOC play and only really got stomped by one of them (Butler).

ND beat up Stony Brook without K-Mac to go to 12-1 and tie their longest win streak ever at 11. McAlarney was suspended indefinitely, so Tory Jackson, a true freshman, will take over at PG. He'd better do a lot better than he did yesterday if the Irish are to fulfill the promise they've showed so far. They'll play Louisville on the 3rd (good luck getting any attendance at that one with the Sugar Bowl starting less than an hour after the end of the b-ball game).

Mizzou won yesterday for the first time in a month. They beat Southern 87-58 i think. Granted this is only the third game they've played this month. Weird schedule.

Northwestern blows out Northwestern State 85-59 in Evanston.

NU will enter the Big Ten season 10-3...the first time in school history that they'll enter conference play with double-digit wins.

Coble is going to be a good one.

Is Northwestern State one of those on line schools?

They're the team that beat Iowa in the tourney last year with the miracle 3.

Wouldn't ask that to an Iowa fan.

Not a good trip to Chicago for the Demons with two blowout losses at the hands of DePaul and Northwestern in less than 48 hours.
