That contract makes me yearn for Neifi's deal. We're going to pay $9.5m for a guy who can't put up a .300 OBP?

 

What was Izturis's OBP in 2004 (his last healthy year)?

 

.330. That was by far his career year, being the only one where he OBPed over .302 and OPSed over .667

I am glad to hear we only dealt Maddux. In the car I heard we had gotten Izturis and I thought we gave them Aramis. It could have been worse. Granted this is absolute garbage. We're sellers and actually made our team worse for next year.

Well, it's been nice being a Cubs fan. But because of this trade, I hereby resign. While I wish players like Murton, Barret, Lee and Zambrano all the best in their Cub careers, I refuse to root for this team any more.

 

Hopefully, the Brewers will take me on as one of their own.

 

I'm already casting my lot with the Twins. At least they know how to develop their talent.

The Dodgers getting Julio Lugo on top of everything is the coup de grâce. If I were Hendry, I'd be embarrassed to show my face in public.

 

I think that he won't be able to escape criticism for this train wreck anymore. He cannot hide behind the Ramirez and Lee deals after the past 2.5 seasons.

 

Hendry got worked by Colletti, and we are somehow in a worse position for 2007 than we would have been otherwise.

I'm going to pretend I didn't see this post. There's nothing to like about having someone on the same offensive level as Neifi playing every day. Not to mention he'll be getting paid more than Neifi to be Neifi for 2+ more years.

 

So basically you would of just kept Maddux, and let him walk for nothing? Izturis was a solid player in 04. .288 Average .330OBP 4hr 62RBI 25SB, not to mention the guy is excellent with the glove.

 

His salary numbers are a joke and we already have two speedy no-walk little-power guys who can play SS on this roster in Neifi and Cedeno.

Abso-stinkin-lutely. His OPS+ in that glorious 2004 season was 88. That exceeds any other season of his pathetic career by 20.

What part of "we'll be paying him 4-5 million next year" don't you understand? This is cash that could be utilized on a player with some type of offensive prowess. Neifi is excellent with the glove. We already have the middle infield defensive subsitution roster spot covered. Capeesh?

I'm pretty sure I can't be a cubs fan for a while. Probably will take a sale of the team before I'll think of coming back. don't know that I'll even pay attention to baseball any more... althoguh I kind of want to pull for the Dodgers (kills self)... at least their GM can make a deal...

 

People in LA have been complaining about Izturas all year, because he sucks and is way overpaid...
