  1. Hi all, got married last Friday, so need to keep riding that high with a win streak to start the season... preferably double digits.
  2. I would say we can win this by hitting some home runs, but they replay umpires can reverse those too for no reason, so probably not.
  3. I just can't go to baseball games, bad things happen.
  4. I will be at the final game in San Francisco, but In all games I have seen in person in Chicago and San Francisco over the last 2 years whether I was pulling for the Cubs or Giants (obviously when they were playing a different team), my team has lost. This included the game in Chicago the night they lost but clinched the division last year (that was a sucky drive home), and game 3 of the NLDS last year. So, either I'm cursed, or I'm due for my team to win.
  5. Well, that was entertaining. I want more of the games where we win 14-1... when did those stop happening?
  6. I don't really understand Maddon. He's not an idiot, but a hit and run with your absolutely hottest hitter is just stupid! Let him drive in a run, don't bet on him making contact... I don't even want to talk about Uehara...
  7. Yep, it's all making sense now... we crush it for outs, they make weak contact for doubles... I have watched this game before.
  8. I was cautiously optimistic after yesterday... but that's gone now... because I remembered there are umpires.
  9. I am starting to have a small amount of optimism.
  10. The home plate ump is utterly unqualified to do his job Is this still Angel's crew? Learn from the best, that's what I say.
  11. No warnings? I am glad I'm not watching, as the strike zone might kill me, but it sounds like a circus.
  12. That was a rough one, Now if Philly can win, we can move back into first. That would be nice.
  13. I want to think this team will play better, but something is different this year that is more than just playing bad... it's just sad
  14. Apparently it takes 5 strikes to get a strikeout tonight.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] Obviously I would have lost that bet. I'm actually mostly annoyed at MLB right now. Announcing Rizzo broke the rule and all the way they did is more about public perception than actually how the game is supposed to be played. This rule (which seems to always go against the Cubs from every angle), along with the "sliding into second" rule is entirely a judgement call. In the age of robot umps that is coming, umpires will be reduced to only these judgement calls. The more MLB meddles with them, the more often they will be called, if for no other reason than to stay relevant. Let them block the plate or don't let them block the plate, but if they are anywhere between the the player and home plate, they cannot be protected from contact. The runner should not have to make a crazy slide to a tiny corner of the plate avoiding the entire catcher to be called safe...
  16. I'd still bet on Rizzo getting hit tonight, what managers say in public is not what they say in private
