  1. "I dont care much for Boog, so that isn't saying much" carries a lot of weight in the statement. Its Boog that I don't like, not Alex that I like. Theres just something about Boog that rubs me the wrong way. Part of it is that he does so many national broadcasts and misses so many games. Part of it is irrational. And its funny because before this season I would have said that it seems like JD doesn't care for Boog. But yeah I suppose you're right that JD prefers Boog. I don't think Alex is great or anything. Ive been saying put Pat Hughes in the TV booth since 1998, with the exception of when we also employed Len. Although I know that wont happen because Pat prefers doing radio.
  2. Don't like the new guy? I personally like him way better than Boog. I really don't care for Boog though, so that isnt saying a lot. Not a fan of his "buhbye for (hitter who homered)", or however it is that he says it. He'd be way better off if he didn't try to have a canned homer call. Or if his name was Len Kasper that'd be better too.
  3. Replacing extra innings with a 3 batter home run derby has been my suggestion over the ghost runner since it became a thing. I remember posting here about it back when they implemented the ghost runner. I was pretty excited to see MLB try it out. i thought I’d like it more than I did. Meh. At least I got to see Schwarber dominate it.
  4. Eh, the Panthers being so good definitely helped, but I think I probably get into it around now either way. Maybe I’d be a lightning fan instead though, I live about equal distance from tampa and miami. Ive never loved football or basketball and Ive been leaning away from baseball ever since the Cubs started angering me. So I kinda found myself without a sport to follow and that was never gonna last. I’m trying to learn the ins and outs of the whole league on the fly. Even non panthers games that i’ve watched on tv this season have been really entertaining. Its just a super fun game to watch.
  5. I just started following hockey this season. Technically last season during the playoffs but this is my first full season. I have no idea how a sport this fun managed to stay on my ignore list for my first 37 years of life but I’m so glad I got into it. I dont get how this game is 4th most popular in the US. Faster than football and as much action as basketball seems like a perfect sport to be popular in the US. except from what i see the league seems to be pretty awful at advertising itself and the blackouts seem more ridiculous than even MLB. And it seems like every bit of merchandise costs $250. Maybe thats just the panthers though. either way i just decided to stop in and say that hockey is awesome
  6. Tbh my Ohtani love completely overwhelms my dodger hate. Helps i guess that I dont hate the dodgers much. I wanna see Ohtani in the world series. I do want him to lose to Cleveland, but still, I wanna see him play a world series game. btw what an incredible final 3 innings last night. Cleveland’s radio guy is probably my favorite in the business. At the very least the only one that competes with Pat Hughes and Len Kasper. I highly suggest you listen to his calls of the Noel game tying hit and the Fry walkoff. So, so good.
  7. Bout time. That guy couldn't even spell a suzuki, let alone seiya suzuki.
  8. Imma go ahead and vote no on the Miglet nickname.
  9. I thought MLB pensions started at 9 years of service time. Whats the 10 year milestone about?
  10. Its not like an aircraft is required to disclose its destination at the time of departure. He could easily just take off headed northwest and not tell anyone where he is going, or directly lie about where the destination is and cancel the flight plan when he gets close to chicago.
  11. This feels unnecessary and expensive but I guess if you currently have not-the-best and the best is available, why not? We better spend on the bullpen this year. If we pay 8mil a year on a manager and stack the bullpen with scrubs on the cheap Im gonna be so sad.
  12. Dont japanese pitchers that come to MLB end up needing tommy john surgery in their first or second season almost always?
  13. Its his voice for me. Its the voice I prefer to hear when I listen to/watch a baseball game. Its probably because growing up I could only get the radio call of Cubs games, so Pat’s voice is pretty engrained as “the baseball voice”. I’d take Pat over any other announcer ive ever heard. Len Kasper and Tom Hamilton from the Guardians radio booth are the only announcers that can compete with Pat, in my opinion.
  14. Ineligible for the playoff roster, or is that not how it works anymore? I think there were always loopholes that allowed you to sneak a player onto the playoff roster anyway as long as they were active in your system prior to 9/1, come to think of it.
  15. Hearing pat on the tv broadcast is a joy. Just make Pat/JD/Ron a three man booth for TV and Radio imo.
