Maddux and $$$ to the Dodgers for Cesar Izturis

If Izturis was signed at a 1.5 million salary, at least you could say he's a slightly overpaid bench player.

 

As it is, he's a waste of roster spot and will be a waste of four million next season. There's no way this team will be able to contend next season either.

 

It's hard to believe Hendry is this clueless. I've said that before, but he keeps providing more and more evidence that he is in way over his head with this job.

 

After this trade, I really wouldn't be surprised to see a Dusty Baker extension announced in the next few days.

I like this deal. Now Hendry can try to get Tejeda this off-season, and move Izturis to 2b.

 

I'm going to pretend I didn't see this post. There's nothing to like about having someone on the same offensive level as Neifi playing every day. Not to mention he'll be getting paid more than Neifi to be Neifi for 2+ more years.

 

So basically you would of just kept Maddux, and let him walk for nothing? Izturis was a solid player in 04. .288 Average .330OBP 4hr 62RBI 25SB, not to mention the guy is excellent with the glove.

Izturis is far worse than nothing. I would have rather given Maddux away for a ziplock bag of air.

On the bright side, the $4m we just wasted on Itzuris could help prevent Aramis from opting out and leaving, but that would have required Hendry to do some actual thinking.

He has 11 career homers in 6 seasons, and a career SLG of .339, so if Kevin Kennedy means NONE WHATSO-F***ING-EVER when he says "little bit of pop in his bat" then yes, I agree with him

The fact that Hendry is sending $$$ along with Maddux tells me that a pretty good minor leaguer is coming back. Just a guess on my part. Unless it's a stud (Kemp, Ethier) this is a terrible trade. Izturis has an injury history and the team already has a bunch of his player with his skills.

 

Surprising that it would be this one-sided so it really makes me wonder if/who the minor leaguer is.

It's funny because I just went to a Dodgers forum and they are all going crazy because they think it's a terrible deal! About 90 percent of the posts I've read all think the trade was terrible for the Dodgers. They couldn't stop raving about Izz.
