I don’t know why everyone is so mad. all it is taking for the team with the biggest payroll advantage relative to the rest of their division to squeak into the playoffs by one game in the last week of the season with 88 wins is one of their players unexpectedly having literally one of the best seasons in baseball history. that is obviously a repeatable and perfectly sound strategy.

Alcantara is literally leading the majors in innings pitched this year and they are randomly bringing him in to close out games after they’re already eliminated. 

Meanwhile Ben Brown gets a mysterious neck injury 2 years in a row to end his season, Steele misses 2 years with TJS, Horton misses basically the entire season etc etc
