That was a brutal 6 outs, and way too sense for game you’re winning by 4.

Yes, 100% agreed.

I’ve been doing an awesome job of blood pressure management but the playoffs are going to be a real challenge.

They've had an absolute cupcake schedule. Nationals, Giants, Rockies

Teams the Cubs combined to go 9-9 against

Marlins currently leading 5-3 in the 5th against AZ.

Now 7-4. If the Marlins finish this off can we finally put the “Cubs will miss the playoffs” stuff to bed? Up 6 with 11 to play would be very difficult to blow.

maybe, but those teams have probably completely given up at this point in the year. and I know the Giants roster is substantially worse than when we played them.

Ok, bottom of the ninth. Marlins protecting a one run lead against the team with the most comeback wins in Major league baseball this year.

And Fairbanks is injured and pulled out of the game.

….yes, I realize everyone is asleep and I’m posting to myself.

AZ walks it off with a 2-run homer.

LOL

I know Fairbanks got hurt and didn't give up the HR, but when he came in and they showed he had a 6.1 ERA, I just assumed that it wouldn't end well.

acuna busting it down the line at roughly 38%

I thought the same. But he also hit it to Nico pretty hard.

And 13-0 at wrigley versus the Dodgers, Phillies, Padres and Diamondbacks in the regular season by a combined score of 100-47 vs 4-5 with a combined score of 39-55.

Last year they were 30-18 vs the AL with a +54, this year they’re 21-24 with 3 left at +52. This is has been a strange year.

Good win. Offense looked really good; they beat up on Lopez the way you'd hope. Assad a little iffy in the pen, but whatever. David Peterson, very good. Since coming to Chicago Peterson has been shockingly good:

4.15 ERA, 4.27 FIP, 3.99 xFIP. 20.6 K%, 10.6% BB%,

You'd hope for a bit better walk and strikeout rate, but a 50% groundball rate will help erase the walks.

As an aside, I think he's shown enough worth to consider a multi-year contract (Two years and like a third option with a buyout on his end?) as a good 4/5 option for a rotation that could probably use that.
