Also, some of the Cub media or podcast folks still are not pronouncing Gausman's name correctly. It's Gauze-man - like a Gauze bandage, not Gouse-man where Gouse rhymes with house.

It was true, and not because everybody else sucked at playing first base, it happened because the voters were idiots.

I've already heard as recently as today from a sports writer/radio personality that PCA is not particularly close to Ohtani in the MVP race and Ohtani would have to completely tank for it to be close even if he doesn't pitch anymore this year. People have lost their damn minds.

My conspiracy theory is the MLB would never let their poster boy and cash cow lose MVP. If you take Ohtani away from that team they still win the division. If you take PCA off this team they’re battling to stay above .500. No question on who SHOULD win.

It's actually automated, removing guys who were in the bullpen but then started is really tough to do programmatically.

Assad (and Kelly) first to rest 5 days, and pitch 2 innings, then he comes back up. That's when you lose Ferguson. Assad pitches once out of the bullpen then back down when Cabrera is healthy. Thornton keeps his spot until one of the receivers comes off the IL (Brown, Palencia, Milner or Hollowell). If two come back, Assad's yo-yo string is cut early.

Before advanced stats were introduced, baseball tonight web gems, pitcher win-loss record and triple crown stats determined award winners. Maybe the first part was true for him plus name recognition?
