I know it's not a thing yet, but with a new CBA looming - is it possible that reducing the amount of "controllable years" from 6 to 5 (or lower) is hanging over Jed's assessment?

I said it elsewhere, but I'd be very surprised if the change in service time is applied retroactively to guys who are already "on the clock".

The Rangers selling despite being in second in a bad division and the Blue Jays buying despite being in last place is really the most interesting storyline so far.

Ron Burgundy No GIF

Before anyone freaks out; the last time Evan posted that, it took 12 minutes for the Rangers to trade Josh Smith to the Blue Jays.

Why are teams allergic to saying no to the Dodgers?

1 - Give the Dodgers all the players

2 - Complain that the Dodgers have all the players

3 - Implement wage-crushing salary cap

4 - Profit

How much help do they need!?

I don't get this move.  Either way the Dodgers suck.😁

Are the medicals on the Dodgers' rotation worse than they're letting on publicly?  Yamamoto-Wrobleski-Glasnow was a pretty darn good 1-2-3 even before they added Skubal.

They really, really need bullpen help and someone in the OF who can Old Yeller Kyle Tucker.  Bubic makes no sense.

It's like the Cubs signing Shelby Miller in the offseason; you have some extra resources so you hope that you can get something out of it. And if it doesn't, that's the benefit. Bubic might not pitch this year any more, or he might be a really fun playoff BP arm.

Yeah Bubic is actively injured right now.  This is a "he might be built back up to at least relieve by the time we hit October" sort of deal.  Possibly a "we want to manage his rehab so we know if we should sign him this winter" deal.

This does make sense.

They'll do what they have done the last 2 years, use starters out of the pen in the playoffs.  They went out and got the two best relievers on the market 2 years back in Scott and Yates, they both sucked badly, so badly that they were unpitchable in the playoffs and just pitched Yamamoto for 9 and used their high priced starter talent out of the pen.   If Bubic doesn't work out they will do the same this year.

Maybe the medicals aren't looking good for Snell and Glasnow

They've both been on the IL since mid to early May. Both might end up being fine, but aren't sure things health wise. Ohtani has his knee issue and now a biceps thing in his right arm. Sheehan is currently at the most IP he's had in his career. If Bubic gets healthy, he's a multi inning lefty they can use out of the pen.
