Hopefully this game is fast because it's supposed to rain pretty hard starting mid-afternoon and is not going to stop the rest of the day.  Guessing if it goes into rain delay it's not going to resume today.

Superfan Sam Bernero captures a click of Antoine Kelly comin' into Wrigley.  🤔

Kelly's been really good at Iowa.  I suspect he's a LOOGY more than anything but this should be a guy who can contribute.

Thielbar to the IL?  Or extra body because a trade is close?

Kelly's already on the 40-man, so there wouldn't have to be any work to be done there.  So, perhaps one of the bullpen guys to the IL? (or DFA?).

To your last point, having him posted at the Hotel Zachary now would be less disruptive that chartering the bus for him at some point this weekend.  Buckle up.

Maybe Assad to Iowa since they're likely to have a starter in place and available before his next turn in the rotation comes up and it gives them a fresh arm for the weekend?

Jesse Rogers doesn’t sound optimistic about this one getting play

Problem is tomorrow looks worse. So they might have to get this in while it rains, depending on how bad the rain is.

Is there really a high probability that we're going to ship out one of our relievers and need extra arms lying around? Or would this just be for mechanics reasons....you need to cut someone to add new pitcher to the roster/40 man, but new pitcher is stuck in LA or Detroit and won't be here until Sunday

Hollowell to the IL.

what are shota's stats since adjusting his position on the pitching rubber?

I don't know, but I checked Boyd's stats, after he came back from the IL on 6/25.  At the same time, I also checked other SPs, during the same period, Shota was our best pitcher over the last 30+ days.

ERA: 1.55
xERA: 3.36
FIP: 2.90
xFIP: 3.63

K/9: 7.76
BB/9: 1.86
HR/9: 0.62

For every single stat (listed above), Shota was the #1 on the team.

I'm sorry I haven't been following the minors that hard lately, I swear it feels like they just have endless random pitchers I've never heard of to call up.

Nitpicking here - love that they are getting Ramirez more playing time, I don't love that it's coming at the expense of Seiya. He DH'd yesterday, and it's a crosswind blowing out to left/knocking down balls to right hurting lefties (Conforto).

Now I know why I've been seeing so many Yankee fans around town.  They just finished up a series on the south side and now have 3 on the north.

Pretty cool.

They don’t want to risk injury for when they trade Seiya for Emerson Hancock.

I read the minor league summaries and I'd never heard of Wantz or Kelly so I'm in the same boat.

I don't understand the hype on that guy.  He doesn't strike many people out, he doesn't have good secondary pitches and he's not exactly a young - he'll be 28 next season.  I've heard some call him the "best controllable arm available" at the deadline yet I don't see what makes him better than Detmers, Soriano, Greene. etc.

I wouldn't trade Shaw for him, let alone Seiya ++

He’s the cheapest controllable arm that’s still a capable starting pitcher. That’s my read on it from what little I know.
