This is one of the unspoken issues when parity comes up. If every team has the *same* chance of winning a WS in a given season, you're going to end up with WS matchups that are ostensibly bad for the sport because of fickle/apathetic fanbases.  Cripes, the Marlins have won more WS than most teams in MLB since 1997 and look where that got their attendance and media deals.

No, what's best for baseball is the most viewership during the World Series.  That means the most popular teams in the biggest markets, the Yankees and Dodgers, should be in the WS against each as much as possible and nobody else has much of a chance.  Fans in e.g Cleveland, Baltimore, Minnesota can abandon their teams and buy Yankees and Dodgers jerseys and join the bandwagon like everyone else.

The way to do this is getting rid of the luxury tax completely.  The Dodgers spent 170m in luxury tax penalties last year, so they could then use that money to buy even more great players like Soto, Cease etc and ensure total dominance.  Ram bigger sportsbooks into Yankee/Dodger Stadium and spraypaint Onlyfans ads across the OF grass so they can make even more money to spend.

Trading for Skubal shouldn’t be off the table no matter how costly. Happ and Suzuki might not be Cubs next season while Bregman and Swanson will also be a year older. The future is now and wasting this positional core on an incomplete and injured pitching staff seems like a wasted opportunity.

Like it'd hurt, obviously, but you'd presumably have the rotation addressed for the next 2.5 years outside of Rea-type depth options.  If we're wanting to just cash in all our chips in the upper minors/MLB on one big move this feels like where I'd be willing to stretch to do something irresponsible?

You’d think they’d trade Hartshorn if that’s what it took if Tom gives Jed the green light to offer him a massive extension. With uncertainty over the new CBA you could entice him to stay.. maybe?

I want no part of this head case, but don't be surprised to see Jarren Duran get traded in the coming days.  They already have a crowded OF but with his antics, they might sell low on him just to get rid of him.

This is where Trueblood's article makes sense. Jed's most likely not going to give up that much for Peralta alone, but throw Tong into the mix, and then it makes sense for us to make higher tier prospects available to the Mets.
