imagine if the cubs hadn’t pulled that one off last night and then this happened today. would almost be impossible to not fire SOMEBODY.

Eh I don't think last night matters.  If they had done something with it, you could argue it gave us positive momentum but turning around and playing like this destroys all momentum we might have gotten and puts us back in "we absolutely suck" mode.

My preferred trade candidate? Swanson, Seiya, Maybe a contender would be interested if we ate half the remaining contract.

might get something interesting for Busch.

I looked away for like 20 minutes and then saw the score and actually laughed.

Someone gets fired over this right? Should be Hoyer but at least has to be Dustin Kelly? Maybe a demotion or two, couple of phantom IL stints. Nothing is working aside from one inning last night.

You would think.

Hoyer needs to go. I’m almost ready to send Brewer Boy packing with him.

We can hope after the game..lol

Dom seems somewhat connected, I don't think he would just make something completely up.

It wouldn't surprise me.  Too many nice guys.  You need an horsefeathers or two (looking at you Rossy) to keep everyone accountable and this team doesn't have any of those guys.

Maybe...could be bunk.  I know he's boys with Ian and probably has some locker room connections, but I'd obviously still take with a grain of salt.

The very high paid players that Counsell keeps batting 2-4?

You don't need redasses, you just need guys who can stay healthy and produce.  I don't think Kris Bryant won an MVP because John Lackey was a dick to everyone in the clubhouse, ya know?

At this point, though, something needs to happen, be it a crazy trade or a bloodletting, because this team is sleepwalking.

yeah, don't believe this for a second. Craig would never call anyone out

Do you actually believe this?  The guy has been a successful MLB manager for 10 years and played with some of the biggest names in the game.  Thinking he wouldn't call someone out is just wild.

Have you listened to the Loveable Reunion podcast at all?  Just based on that, I'd strongly disagree with this notion.  They don't even need to be a redass, but guys like Lackey, Ross, and Lester were all willing and able to put a boot in someone's ass if they weren't toeing the line every day.

No doubt theyre all frustrated and pissesd off, obviously I dont know these guys personally,  but this group doesn't have a feel of having someone in that clubhouse who would stand up and be voiceous and ballsy enough to be that type of leader and start calling people out.

Counsell seems like a guy who would do it quietly behind closed doors with individuals

Wild because Jed told us leadership was one of the big reasons they wanted Bregman so bad.

We can argue about intangibles and motivation until the cows come home, but the bottom line is this team currently sucks and it can't continue in its current form.

I was being a tad facetious, but with Craig's personality it wouldn't surprise me.

well yeah obv last night means nothing after today. but if they had just lost 6-3 or whatever last night and then followed that up with a 16-1 loss today for what would have been their TENTH straight home loss, that kinda feels like an exclamation point moment where SOMETHING has to be done.
