I guess you could look into a prospect hitter from the Cubs to a team with a prospect pitcher if that teams system is heavy on pitching and weak on hitting. The pitcher would have to be ready this year, now.
I know Shaw has been doing well, but do they talk to the Red Sox about one of their ready pitching prospects for a Shaw? Bring up Ramirez and let him do the job Shaw is doing.🤷

I was thinking exactly the same thing.  A trade with the Red Sox.  I was also thinking the Mets, but that's not as easy, unless we get Senga from them.  I'm sure the Mets would be happy to get rid of his contract.  He's on IL, though.  Clay Holmes would be very nice, but I don't know what they want in return.

Yeah revisiting the Red Sox talks would be interesting. Also the Twins may have fixed Taj Bradley and aren't planning on competing soon. Anything there?

Bradley isn't a free agent until 2030, would cost a lot

Cubs pitchers will keep getting hurt until we give Brown a chance to prove he belongs in the rotation.

Imagine getting Steele and Boyd at the trade deadline.

Shaw? He would love it there. They don’t have a player on the 26 man roster not born in the USA. He would be perfect.

I would strongly consider this the sign that it's time to lengthen Brown back out.

But the bullpen's finally back in a good spot, and Thielbar/Harvey don't sound super far out on top of that.  We desperately needed Brown doing what he was doing up to this point, but we can probably shift back to a vanilla bullpen from here.  And Brown's proven his bullpen chops so hopefully in ~August he can shift right back to the job he's got currently.

I would almost bet that this is where they go just based on him not being used last night against the Reds.  I think sending him out there with Assad ready to go a couple innings if his pitch count gets too high early would be my preferred route, but I suppose we'll find out Friday.

Went with the removal option per Jesse Rogers, which is the one that has a much shorter rehab time. Probably no activity for a month and then can get moving from there.

Source? BN says it was a "trim" per Hawkins, out over a month.  Let's hope back before ASB.

At least we have Brown and Assad, those are solid options probably as good as any trade we could make right now.  We should know much more on Steele and Boyd's situation by the trade deadline so until then Hoyer can probably focus on bolstering the pen.

Wicks has been back throwing in Iowa.  The stats on just about every pitcher in Iowa are horrible.  Need more depth.
