I’m kind of upset that it seems pretty unlikely that we’ll see a PCA/Palencia matchup the way things are set up

Well, if it keeps going like this, Palencia would pitch.  Palencia vs PCA or Bregman would be cool.

Shota's fastball averaged 90.8 last year, tonight he's averaging 92.3 and has thrown 1 fastball under 91 MPH.

Jameson Taillon is a walking red flag but despite the inflated ERA I feel great about Shota.

Shota is still dominating after the 4th inning.  The cool thing was his 4 seam average velo in the 4th inning was 92.5mph.

I'm very happy for Palencia and Venezuela.

Same. Wanted the US to win but more than happy seeing Palencia shut them down in a 1 run game to win the title. Now let’s do it again in November!

Shaw has had a pretty stellar spring.  I don't take too much from ST results unless it's something that indicates a skill change (e.g. velocity), but given what's been put on Shaw's plate defensively I'm encourage it hasn't hurt him in the batters box even just in exhibition games.

After Horton and Shota pitched really well, I was hoping Cabrera would be good today.  Oh well, as long as he's healthy, it's good for now.

Alcantara and Long back to back.  Alcantara has been hitting very hard lately.

I guess 3 days in a row of professional pitching was too big an ask

Yeah, I guess, but we can always hope.😁

I was really excited by Cade and Shota.  50+% Whiff, 2 days in a row.  Cabrera's changeup and 4 seam velo dropped.  I don't know what it means.  Maybe, he's tired?  He's not 100% healthy?

Alcantara, maybe those long levers takes him a while to get in sync.  People said he started slowly last year.

Same here - Palencia is really easy to root for - love that guy and love that he's a Cub.!!

Really hope Brown throwing in relief yesterday was schedule related. Keep him in Iowa working on that Sinker and Kickchange they need him in the bullpen... yet.

I'm guessing it was his throw day and they just did it during the game because everyone else was so bad.

Yeah I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand, it certainly raised an eyebrow, but I suspect it was just logistics in one direction or the other.

A) The team has insisted up and down dating back to the winter that Brown is still a SP

B) Brown has looked great this spring, well above expectation, and continued to do so as he's been stretched out

C) We have at least one non roster invitee (Snider) that looks like he's worth giving that last bullpen spot to

The timing feels weird to pull the rip cord on Brown as a SP.
