How long will that take to heal?

4-6 weeks.

This is good news.  From my research when they call it a strain it’s usually 1-3 weeks recovery.

I just found the Cubs gave up 43 HR's (Jamo 8, Rea 5, Schultz 5...)  The Cubs hit only 19 HR's.  They should hit more.

It seemed they gave up more than they hit but holy crap

Counsell said Seiya played catch today and not shut down from anything.  Not shut down from hitting either because no structural damage just pain from swelling but he probably won't start hitting until the weekend.

Counsell said they talked with Venezuela manager today.  Palencia wants to pitch badly.  Cagey no comment from Counsell on whether he'd be able to pitch tonight.

How can you not like Palencia? That guy wants the ball.

Hopefully the Americans blow it open early and he is not needed.

Of course he wants to pitch. And I like him for that. But as Cubs management is concerned, I am not sure I would want him to. Hopefully USA is winning by a lot so no Palencia.

My thinking is Counsell might have been cagey any whether he was allowed to pitch tonight because they may have told Venezeula not to pitch him and Counsell didn't want people to get angry at him/Cubs for that decision in case he's not even needed tonight.  Just a guess though

Honestly, there is no reason to answer that question. As you said, there may not be a need for Palencia. So why answer a wherein on his availability if it turns out there was never a spot to use him.

I hope they allow him to pitch if the situation calls for it. There's plenty of time to rest between now and opening day.

But if they told him he could pitch then why be cagey,?  Just say yes

Telecast just said Cubs told them Palencia can only pitch the 9th in a save situation.

I think this is the first time I saw (well, I didn't see it, but) Shota got 3 K's from the first three hitters.  His 4 seam velo is still 92+.

Shota got 5 K's in two innings.  Awesome!  No hit, 1 walk.

This is the week you want to start seeing good starts out of your regulars,  both pitching and hitting.

SP will get their final tune-up before season starts next week,  so it good to see Horton and now Imanaga having really good games.

Cabrera will start tomorrow and we'll likely see one more from Boyd and Taillon
