There’s really no pitching matchup advantages with the Horton injury. Just like the padres series they’ll have to limit home runs and let the gloves do the work. Is Woodruff going to pitch?

No Woodruff is out.

And we didn’t need to wait long to not suffer the biggest defeat of the day. Blue Jays beat Yankees 10-1 in Game 1.

Which leads me to a semi interesting thought. How crappy is Marquee’s broadcast quality? I feel like I am watching Baseball in 720p when we are playing at home. In fact, the postseason series against the Padres on ESPN was no better. It feels like it’s WF itself using outdated tech. Whenever I watch games in most other stadium, there is a big boost in the picture quality.

This guy never works the plate in a playoff game again, right?

Sadly, he probably will still work a game behind the plate in the playoffs.

Might as well call the TOR-NYY series now.

And Aaron Judge once again turns into Curly in the postseason.

This Yankee game today makes me feel a lot less crappy about the Cubs performance yesterday.

You could have said the same thing about yesterdays Yankees game. 😛

Well, Seattle tied the game.  I have no idea which will win, but probably, Seattle.

How come Blue Jays could score so many runs, especially against Max Fried?  Why can't the Cubs score more?😄

Announcer in the Seattle game said twice they haven’t won a playoff game in 24 years as if their two wins in the WC series in 2022 didn’t count.

Maybe he meant home playoff game?

That could be since both those wins were in Toronto.

Just listened to the call at the end and he says “first playoff win in 24 years”. But would make sense if he just read the fact wrong or forgot to say “home”.

Catching up on some Athletic articles from this weekend:

- Craig obviously wouldn't say anything so definitive, but sounds like Tucker's probably not going to see the field again this season

- If Horton comes back, it's going to be as a reliever

- Steele is currently tracking towards Opening Day-ish next year.  I would expect a couple rehab starts, both for his sake and for roster management reasons, but still I was not expecting anything before Memorial Day

That Steele return date surprises me a bit but that obviously means the rehab is progressing well and that's fantastic news.  I'd almost hate to see him come back too early and not be available for a potential playoff run.

The discussion of the Steele timeline reminds me so much of Hoerner's recovery last year.  The team says basically nothing, and fans start with a logical/conservative estimate and then a million internet debate cycles happen in between and the estimate mutates into something that no longer matches previous examples or sometimes even common sense.

Well, Fried didn't accommodate the Cubs with a bunch of middle-middle hit-me FB's.  Which, given the Cubs were his guests, is pretty damn rude.

Phillies have Castellanos on 2nd with no out in the 9th down 1 and they bunt. Unsurprisingly he gets thrown out at 3rd. The next batter singled to left.

Dodgers are the anti-Cubs. They’ve scored 4+ runs in 13 straight playoff games which is tied with the 1970-71 Orioles for the longest streak in history.

Magic Johnson and the rest of their ownership is the anti-Ricketts
