We can't keep going with a bullpen game every 5th day. Yes, I get that most deals are done in the final days before the deadline, but even with the ASB, this seems suboptimal

I agree. And I know CC is calling this a bullpen day, however, I don’t think it will be like last BP days. Flexen is not “the opener” IMO. I think if he pitches we’ll be could get to 60 pitches and thru 4 innings. Then go to Wicks for maybe 3. I don’t think the plan today is to parade 8 pitchers into the game, like a true BP day. But, who knows🤷

Would love to be wrong, but this sure feels like a 14-1 type blowout, where Judge goes deep 3 times.  Happ solo shot for the silver lining.

Just remember….. baseball is stupid. So anything can happen.

That's what I was thinking, realistically it appears the Cubs chances are slim to none.  Rodon was blown up in last start maybe, and I know I'm grasping at straws, akin to hitter, he's in a slump?

The Yankees are reeling. Their bullpen is in shambles. If the Cubs can keep it close, there is no reason they can't win any or all of these games. They traditionally do not play well in the Bronx, though.

They won 4 in a row

Yep,  4 in a row and a dramatic win last night.  Very good LHP vs  Flexen and Wicks. On paper, not good.  Winning these kinds of games is one of the best things about regular- season baseball.

Shaw working on a  0-20 over his last 6 games only 3 K's.  Really, since a good week in early June he hasn't done much, if anyone ever needed just a hint of success it's Shaw.  Ultimately, while Cam Smith looks all world, I do believe Shaw will just as good if not better.  Just not anytime in the near future.

Be nice to figure out a way to win tonight game, then with Boyd and Imanaga the next 2 days they'll have a pretty good opportunity to get at least 1 more win and take the series.

Sunday pitching matchup heavily favors the Cubs with Imanaga.

cam is doing well but he also has 17 strikeouts and 0 walks in his last 10 games

I saw that as well, maybe, the league is starting to figure out he's having trouble with high fastballs?  Appears up and in is hole for him.

What’s up with some of these comments? Are the Yankees undefeated or something? The Cubs are a damn good team, they can go toe to toe with any team in this league.

Im expecting a lot of dongs from PCA and Tucker this series

Yes that short porch is akin to what the Crawford boxes in Houston are for a righty - cheap homers to be found there....of course that goes both ways.

No, see, you're looking at the full year. That's silly. What you need to do is look at the last three games, and ideally ignore the last one. Plus, Matt Shaw is a struggling rookie, so there's that.

I am not one to suggest Cubs can’t win here. But pitching match ups are not favorable. Cubs get Rodon and Fried and are going bullpen day today. Tomorrow we get Boyd, but again, that is against Fried. Sunday looks ok, but Imanaga was hit hard last turn out. If we are looking at this from an unbiased view I would think most would feel the Yankees have the edge. Doesn’t mean the Cubs cannot beat them. They absolutely can.

The pitching matchup is definitely going to be tough. Cubs face Rodon and Fried this series, the Yankees have to face Imanaga and Boyd. Imanaga hasn’t quite been his usual self in his last 2 starts (however, he wasn’t absolutely terrible either) but those were 2 starts after coming back from injury. Boyd has been a stud this season, confident he’ll continue that success in his next start. I have full confidence in Imanaga coming back and being more effective in his next start.
