Seriously you are like that reporter who gets a little bit of information and then goes with a scoop not caring to fact check it or not. Every now and then he is right. But usually not. You went from the injury has to happen on his AB after the slide in the first inning to now saying he will be out weeks with a finger injury. Why. It just wait and see what actually happens instead of trying to be the first to say anything?

First of all there were a couple posters guessing on injury, so I threw my guess out there.  They showed a replay of him taking an awkward swing in his last AB when they were trying to figure out when he got hurt, so that was my guess.

Next, you know as well as everyone when the Cubs get an injury they downplay it for a couple days and then they end up putting them on IL.

After looking dead with bats but, still splitting the first two games, the Cubs bats come alive to take the series clincher.  Gain a game on the pissbirds and Reds very nice.

The contact the Rockies handed out to KB (7/$182M) is more expensive in AAV than any contract the Cubs (8/$184M to J-Hey) have ever handed out. Make it make sense.

Probably the same logic used sending the Cardinals $50 million in cash and Arenado for 4 prospects, all 4 either traded or DFA’d, a bad trade not just in hindsight but at the time too, It either takes a complete idiot or a genius to see why they do the things they do.

KB had a lengthy injury history and had been trending downwards ever season since 2017 at that.

I thought the Phillies were over performing a bit, to roll over and play dead for the Brewers I did not expect.  Don't worry those asswipes will be right for the Cubs.

They always are. They’ll forever be a pain in the ass no matter how good or bad they are when the cubs are on the schedule.

Phillies are always over performing? I believe that is what you responded to. It sounds like you are talking more about the Brewers. And if you are talking about the Brewers, I agree. As for the Phillies, I don’t core them as overperformkng. I just think they are good every year for the last several years.

Expect the worst, hope for the best, worked this time.

He isn’t back yet. I will believe them when he is back on the field. There is no reason for them to say anything now. Cubs and Iowa are both off tomorrow. So I doubt we hear anything more than what we just heard. And it is good news. But I will feel much better when I see him 2nd or 3rd in the line up.

I believe what was intended is that they're always right for the Cubs regardless of how they were playing prior to the series.  True they've got a great rotation it's also, in baseball years, very old and has not shown any signs of age regression.  That's what I was getting at in that they're over performing a tad.  Not having Harper in the line up certainly made them less scary for the Brewers.

If my projections are correct, we are going to miss Wheeler.

Yes but apparently the Tigers are holding back Skubal’s next start against the White Sox to line him up to face the Cubs 😡

I will always love KB but wow did we ever dodge a bullet there.

Jed is a pretty damn good GM.

He avoided Bryant, Baez, Rizzo extensions which all turned out to be great decisions, even if many in the fanbase and media hated him for it.  +PCA, Busch, Brown, Palencia, Tucker on clever trades.

The Seiya and Imanaga acquisitions look like home runs too.

He (Jed) has earned an extension

They are baseball old. But a very good team. Yes, Harper out hurts them. Hope he stays out.

What could have been with KB, injuries de-railed his career. Started with the shoulder in 2017 and then that horsefeathers Marquez beaning.  Such a shame, was on track to be amongst the best Cubs ever.  Jed has done a decent job, still waiting for Darvish trade to pay off, be it Cassie making an impact as a Cub or in trade for a SP.

Agreed, :he had to have meant the Breweres right?  I see the Phillies now about where the 18 or 19 Cubs were, not sure which more exemplifies but we'll see at years end.  in my view there's more regression than progerssion.  Ironically Schwarber is playing the best of his career and it's not even close.

I agree. Fans will always focus on what a GM doesn’t do rather than what he has done.
