It's refreshing to see the NL Central so competitive. It's been a while.

Should be a good day for the lefties in the lineup.  Martinez doesn't have major splits, but I would say that broadly our lefties like the ball down and the righties like the ball up.

Tucker’s gone 8 games without an XBH. It’s time. Good to see PCA lay off the change ups and off speed stuff nowhere near the plate yesterday. Time for the bats to wake up.

Anyone know if Shaw is PPI eligible?  I know there's a requirement for the player to be on the roster for a certain period of games, so I'm wondering if the Cubs managed to keep him in the minors long enough to get right, but not so long that they'd forfeit a bonus draft pick if he ends up winning NLROY.

I don't think so, he needs to get to a full year of service time and he spent more than a month in Iowa so I don't think he can accrue the necessary days

PCA taking two walks, and then stealing second is huge. Force them to pitch to you. If a pitcher focuses on “don’t walk this guy” he may throw a meatball. If he focuses on “don’t throw a meatball” he may walk PCA.  If PCA can take walks, it’s going to be impossible to do anything with him.
