Padres scored 8 today and lost at home to the Marlins. Mets scored 4 and lost at home to the white sox. I will gladly score 2 and win against the Rockies. Good teams find a way to win. Bullpen comes through again.

162 games, sometimes you gotta win some ugly ones.

Yeah definitely. 35-21. Now all we need is for the Cardinals to horsefeathers off.

I’ll be among the first to complain when the bullpen isn’t doing their job, but I really like the way they’ve been shaping up. I have a lot of trust in Keller, Thielbar, Palencia, and Pomeranz right now. Pressly and Flexen still make me a little nervous, but they’ve been getting the job done.

They're in Texas this weekend you'd think it's time they came back down to Earth.

If the season ended today the Cubs and Phillies would get the first round bye and the Dodgers would have to play the wildcard round

Was at this game, first of the season. Boyd looked pretty nasty and the bleachers were CRAZY for PCA all night. His homer was definitely the highlight.

im not gonna complain about a sweep but it would be nice if the offense picked up again. Lucky us that the pitching has kept them afloat in a dry offensive spell. Love this team, etc.

It’s the opposite of a losing team.  The Cubs seem to get the pitching when the hitting isn’t there, and vice versa.  They “find ways to win.”

knock on wood

Rockies are -175 run differential and it’s still May.  On pace to obliterate the previous record for that stat.

I can't remember the last time I was this unenthusiastic after a sweep. The offense was absolute trash in this series.

Vs a team allowing 5.3 runs/game on the road vs the Cubs offense scoring at a clip of 5.6 runs/game at wrigley..

9 runs????? The addition by subtraction from Berti to Shaw is at least a difference of 4 wins in theory and was the difference on Tuesday and last Wednesday.. I’d like to see him barrel some more pitches but otherwise his impact is noticeable

Interesting twist. The team allowing 5.3/game on the road vs a team coming into the series scoring 5.6/clip at wrigley managed 9 total runs in a sweep.

The book on PCA looks similar to Javy with curves and changeups nowhere near the zone both low and away. He lives and dies by the sword golfing a homer on a curveball near his knees and struck out on another curve in the dirt.

They should. But, then again, Texas isn’t very good and can’t score runs.

If anyone was wondering “how many games in a row are going to get with Boog and JD?”

Two. The answer is two

I wonder if their contracts stipulate a certain number of games max, so they can rotate their roster of 20 in and out of games throughout the year?

Agreed, much like Javy there is really no reason to ever throw him a strike...now he'll hit some pitches out of the zone out of the park as well but I think you will see pitchers expand more and more an make him show he'll take a walk.  And if he can make that adjustment and take some walks then the speed comes in, but that's a BIG IF!

If I just woke up from a 3 day coma after reading thru this game thread I would have thought Colorado swept the series.  The weather is warming up this weekend.  Things will be ok.

Shaw looks like a legit great fielding 3b. How many reps at 3rd does he have in the system? I thought he mostly played 2nd.

Is Cabrera in Iowa? When can we expect him to get promoted?

Didn’t he sign a major league deal? I think he will be with the team on Friday.

That is why I'm asking. He didn't appear to be with the team last night. Maybe that was moving day for him? Now he has Thursday to get acclimated.

Sounds right.

Good teams win in different ways. And you know regression was going to happen with our O - might as well happen during Ws.

Good sweep. Wins are wins.

"This garbage bullpen is going to keep us from being an elite team"

(Bullpen throws 10.2 innings without an earned run to win three tight games)

"Well the offense sucks"
