The Cubs have scored 10+ runs in 23% of their games this year. Is that good? Feels like that is good

100% win record in games the Cubs have scored 10+ runs as well. Closest a team has gotten in those games were in a 13-11 win vs D’Backs and an 11-10 win vs the Dodgers.

Cohen compared Palencia’s legs to Mike Alstott’s and the Fridge‘s

I never thought I would miss Boog so much.

Brown can't remain in the rotation, it's Iowa time for him, work him as reliever.  Should he excel, bring him back up for a try in the bullpen.  Time for Wicks?  I'd keep Flexen as a mop up/innings guy and try Wicks.

I thought Wicks got injured?

He’s healthy. He hasn’t been bad at Iowa but overall pretty unimpressive. I’d prefer the Cubs stick with Brown if this offense is gonna keep bailing out this team. He has a much higher upside.

EDIT: My bad, didn’t see Wicks got hurt in Columbus last night…

Also looking at baseball savant for the game,

-Neither of McGuire's HRs today would have been gone at Wrigley

-Nico's double in the 7th would have been a HR at Wrigley (only a HR at Wrigley and whatever they are calling the Brewers' stadium these days)

I am traveling so I apologize for not being able to look through all comments. But how about a shout out for the Cubs pen. They have been great the entire trip. And really pretty good overall but for a few terrible innings. Could be much worse. We could have the Reds pen.

He came out in the 1st inning the other day. He might not be healthy.

I disagree.  That upside, as a starting pitcher, is largely dependent on Brown developing a serviceable third pitch.  That isn't going to happen in-season while starting for the Major League team.

He either needs to go to Iowa and work on things to give himself a chance to be a successful starter, or move to the bullpen where his current repertoire is more than enough to get by.

Continuing to run him out as a starter isn't doing anyone any favors, most of all the Cubs bullpen.

Last season it took them 74 games to reach 300 runs on June 18th. Right now they’re at 321 through 53 on May 25th, while reaching the 300 mark in 51 games.

I like Cohen.  Yeah, he makes some cringe-worthy comments at times and sounds like he might be trying a bit too hard, but I think he will get better if given the opportunity to settle into the role.

Zaidman, on the other hand...

They need to keep Horton and send down Ben Brown when Shota is back, and Brown needs to throw his change up every other pitch until he stops being crap with it

Id like to see Brown moved to the bullpen. Not shutting the door on him starting but when Shota comes back I want Horton to stay in the rotation.

Brown can really add another dynamic arm to the pen and still work on developing that command and 3rd pitch.

They could also just keep him stretched out and piggy back him with Horton as well for innings management.

Read about the Alcantara and the Cardinals, if the Marlins are going to make him available this early.  There's no way the Cardinals should be able to outbid the Cubs.  I really, really don't want to see the Cardinals pick him up.  He's got turn-it-around on a better team written all over him.

I think we can stop with the Alcantara stuff. He has been awful this year. His BB% has literally doubled and his savant page is entirely blue outside of velocity and gb%. Even his velocity is down a bit this year.

Can't believe David Robertson never signed with anyone. Jed needs to be all over that. A very good setup man, who can fill in at closer, and costs nothing but money. Save the prospect assets for a pitcher.

How many times have we seen the Cardinals trade for such a guy and he flips the switch as soon as he gets off the plane in St. Louis?  Too many horsefeathers times.  I know his savant page looks terrible, I still think there's something there, I think being on a crappy go no where team hasn't helped.

Pomeranz has been a freaking revelation. 2 years away from the MLB and he has a .55 WHIP and 10 K9. Massive boon to the pen.

Sorry man I don't think he has any interest in developing a 3rd pitch.

Cohen is good, I like him when he  doing Iowa games.

Cubs fans been spoiled since Brickhouse, then Harry, and Len, also with Pat on radio. We're not used to new guys, I know Chip 🙄, but he was supposed to share time with Harry in the booth before he died.

Cohen a rookie at this job getting his feet wet the last 2 years, he'll be good as he gets more comfortable calling games. I personally prefer him over Boog.

I think theyre grooming him to take over for Boog who could end up moving to the network that takes over games from ESPN next season or elsewhere.

Boog a national guy who has been imo pretty dry calling Cubs games and only gets excited when he talks to TMac and cites his love for those baseball stats and gym shoes.

Cohen been calling Iowa games the last couple years, he has grown with some of the current young players, so yeah he naturally gets excited for them and tries to hype them even when they're doing bad but that because he has seen them excell to being a top prospect at the minor league level and feels they're better then what they are showing, like Brown for instance.

Cohen to me feels more like he a fan of the team calling games, getting excited and all, while Boog seems like he's just doing his job.

Yea, I think the Cubs are preparing to move forward in the booth and they're likely gonna go with Cohen who knows these current and soon to be young players coming up from Iowa.
