I cant believe I'm actually excited about the Cubs.

Now I'm interested to see how Jed handles the rest of the offseason.  Before I didn't care because I didn't think the Cubs would actually get the elite bat they needed.  But now that we've accomplished that I am very interested to see what we can do.

Have to imagine that's gotta be Cease. The Hoerner to Mariners talk can be put to bed now.

Why do you think this? Have the Cubs been linked to him. Don’t get me wrong, I would love a Cease. I just don’t see it happening.

Over the last two years, among guys with at least 1000 PAs, Tucker ranks 7th in wRC+ and Seiya ranks 19th.

Dodgers, Braves, and Astros only other teams with more than 1 in the top 20.

(Francisco Lindor is #21 and paired with Soto would add the Mets so I'm cheating a bit with the arbitrary endpoint)

Shocked the Dodgers didn't trade for him but, all kidding aside, as been stated, this is the big bat we've been hoping the Cubs could add.

Because it's been leaked that the Padres are listening, like the Astros were listening, and the Padres projected opening day LFer is Tirso Ornelas. Heard of him before? Me neither.

Who starts for the Cubs at 3B on opening day?

With who they have now, it would likely be Shaw

Craig Counsell is player-manager.

Tucker's 180 wRC last year would have been the second best Cubs offensive performance in the modern era (I'm excluding Ross Barnes hitting .429 in 1876, apologies to the Barnes family). 2001 Sosa and that's it.

2005 Derreck Lee? 170

1998 Sosa? 159

2016 KB? 146

Reading a lot of Astros takes that are ok with this because Tucker's postseason numbers are poor lol.  Sure send him out of town because of a few small sample size performances

I don’t see the Cubs trading for another guy on the last year of his contract. So I don’t know who it will be, but I doubt Cease will be a Cubs. I would love it to be the case, but I doubt it.

I'm almost in the camp right now where I prefer giving Shaw 3B and splurging on that SP and RP and maybe a bench bat.

I'd like a solid bat that can play 3B, 1B and DH or something like that.  One that doesn't have to have a permanent position but is good enough to get regular ABs.  Not sure who would fit that profile though.

Makes you wonder why he's already had so many postseason opportunities.

Insane that he already has 247 career PAs in the post season. 80 more than any Cub ever. Even his mediocre postseason numbers give him more HRs, runs, RBIs than any Cub.

BTW after pushing for this Paredes/Tucker deal starting in like August do want to try and speak the next major trade into existence?

I'd get someone for the bench who can play 3B, but I'm team Shaw on OD.

Already disrespecting Tater.
