Between the popular names of Ben Johnson, Joe Brady and Kliff Kingsbury, they should be able to land someone who won't crap the bed the way Eberflus did. It probably should have been Dan Quinn if they had a redo from this past year.

I definitely don't want it to be Vrabel or Gruden or Belichick.

Do you trust the Bears to pick the right coach between Johnson, Brady or Kingsbury?

And I agree no to Vrabel, Gruden or Belichick.

Any of those three will probably work out, no doubt all of them are a major step up from Eberflus.  Of course, that's a very low bar nevertheless, believe all three of them are above that bar.

Ever since Lovie, all the coaches have turned to poo. My concern is the streak continuing with one of these guys.

I actually wouldn't hate Vrabel.  His OCs in TN were Arthur Smith and Matt LaFleur, so he knows how to hire the right people.  That said, I'd much prefer an offensive minded coach, but if the Bears are going to Bears, Vrabel would at least be a solid choice.

I hope Brown does well enough to stick at a minimum of OC.

I don't want to get into the sportstalk/meatball aspect of it but how important is it to change the culture of this team?

I think they need a coach with some swagger/personality.

If Brown continues to be successful with Williams and the offense, I'd love to see them in Aaron Glenn and maintain Brown as the OC.

The bare minimum for correctly hiring a good head coach should be complete ability to hire his own staff.

Agreed. That would be the Bears to do otherwise.

There is no trust.  The Bears don’t deserve any kind of benefit of the doubt.  After all, we are in this mess because they borked up an obvious decision last offseason and instead kept Flus for god-knows-what misguided reason.

I thought Bezos was rumored a few years ago, but are the Bears even interested in selling?

Virginia certainly isn’t.  She’s in it until death.

If they had to convince George to fire Flus after the Detroit debacle I think the answer is pretty clear

Is it always just ownership is the problem in Chicago?

Beyond a doubt, McCaskey had no intention of firing him.  I give Poles and Warren credit for getting it done, maybe, they used some magic words that would have offended Virginia.

I want zero percent of Bill Belichick. Which seems like a strange thing to say about the best coach in NFL history. But the NFL’s changed, he’s 72 years old, and his teams looked completely washed after Brady left. No. No John Fox 2.0.

give me a young hungry guy who understands offense. That’s all I want. There are like 19 of those guys floating around. Get the least dumb one.☝️

Ben Johnson is my #1 choice.

If the rumor I saw that two of Johnson's biggest criteria is clear separation of duties in the FO and an organization willing to accept where they failed so they can properly rebuild, then the Bears are already out of the running.

They aren't. The only thing making the Bears job the most attractive and the only thing that matters is Caleb.  Next HC gets to work with, help nurture, a potential super star QB in one of the NFL's biggest markets, with one of it's founding teams.  All those rumors, criteria, innuendo, etc. is media tabloid bull horsefeathers.

Saw a little bit of video with that horsefeathers Lombardi idiot. Although, he was correct about the Bears needs to address both lines, he was way off on trying to justify any of the Raiders, Jets', Saints' or Cowboys' jobs as more attractive than the Bears' job.

Ben Johnson absolutely seems like the guy that in 3 years we're saying 'I can't believe we had a chance to get Ben Johnson, he wanted to come here and it was so obvious he was going to be a great HC and we decided to hire this stiff instead'

But knowing the Bears, they do hire Ben Johnson and he becomes Matt Nagy 2.0.
