The more I think about it, the more I would rather just fire Poles now. The locker room is completely gone and the drafts have been thoroughly uninspiring.

And I know it's a cliche from me, but I'm gonna hate it if we use a top-10 pick on defense. It makes sense in a short-term, trying to put out fires sort of way, which is the wrong way to draft that high.

If you ever want to have a top offensive line, you're going to need a top LT and this may be your last chance to draft one.

This is okay as well, I know they'll be that whole narrative about Caleb not being the next GM's QB like there was with Poles and Justin.  Big difference is Justin was not the prospect Caleb is, meaning that GM-QB marriage stuff won't matter.

Spoiler alert, it will not be their last chance to draft one. Now, it may be the last chance for Ryan Poles, but that’s a different story.

I don't know how many different ways I can express shock at how much of a dumpster fire the Bears organization is.  It's kind of incredible how they keep one upping themselves.

so poles had it leak to silvy that he hates Warren or at least hates reporting to him?

sounds like poles is pushing to get warren removed imo

Ha, good luck if he thinks that's the pull he has.

Maybe just doing pre-work for after the eventual firing (in 2026)

I’m operating under the assumptionthat everything silvy said including “don’t be surprised if there is a mutual parting of ways at the end of the season” is because poles or a poles go between told him to say that

i don’t really think poles would leave voluntarily after this season so I think he thinks he is getting canned after this season and is trying to play a little offense with media leaks

So let me see if I have this straight ...

A team basically hires a coach and then hires a GM and sticks him with that coach and then hires a president of BS and sticks him with that GM and coach and now there may or may not be internal fighting.

So Bears.

Eh, not that uncommon. Bears just suck at picking the guys.

Barring something like family circumstances he'd be pretty crazy to leave on his own accord.

He can be pissed about the change but wasn't there word that candidates knew Phillips may be on his way out?  He took a risk and doesn't like his new boss?

It wouldn’t surprise me if poles was sold on “yeah we are going to bring in a president but he’s just going to deal with the new stadium and bizops so you can focus personnel”

it’s not really that much of a defense because poles might be super ass at his job

Clearly Warren is not happy with the state of the organization. That should be a good thing. But I’m not sure what a President’s responsibility is when he’s also not the GM or whatever.

But they cannot keep Poles around if they don’t trust him with personnel decisions.

Warren being involved in a head coach search does not mean they don’t trust Poles with personnel decisions

one day in the future Poles may accomplish enough to win a power struggle. To date, he has not come close

I would like to fully apologize to the person I made fun of for saying the Bears were looking at 7-10 as an optimistic outcome after they lost the Washington game. I was obviously wrong, and I accept all punishment/embarrassment/humiliation/etc.
