Team is definitely fun and it looks like they might have some decent depth. Dudes like the rookie QB won't make the team, but the 5th round edge dude seems legit.

Velus Jones as a hybrid also seems exciting

I'm not entirely sure increasing the number of ways Velus Jones can drop the ball is very exciting.

It’s mind blowing how quickly they turn this show around for a Tuesday episode. I know not all the footage was from last week, but to film, identify storylines, edit, write and record narration, etc. in just days is amazing.

Please tell me there is no chance that Jones makes the team.

Chances aren't great unless there's an injury. He's at best 3rd or 4th on the RB depth chart and 4th or 5th on the WR chart. There are faster options for punt/kick returners (who don't fumble so often)

Dawned on me last night that not only is it possible (likely?) that the best QB in franchise history will be on this team but also we could be looking at the 3 best WR’s ever as well. Maybe 3 of the top 5 but when I looked up the all time receiving leaders the top two were black & white pictures and #4 was Walter Payton.

I’d be fairly surprised if Velus didn’t make the team. It feels like they’re going out of their way to justify keeping him in the name of flexibility. I don’t agree with it, but I think they still want to find a way to unlock the potential they see in him.

Haha I am old because I watched the episode on HBO due to still having cable and afterwards looked to see everyone freaking out because it wasn’t up on Max yet

I have YoutTube Tv and thankfully they have regular old HBO in addition to MAX so I was able to watch it at its normal time. Not sure how MAX horsefeathered that up

I would be very surprised if Jones didn't make the team.  They didn't go through all this effort to find new ways to get him the ball if they didn't have plans for him.

I'm far from his biggest fan, but he can play multiple positions at a useful backup level and he's good in ST coverage

Eh maybe.  I saw the move as a last ditch effort to find some way for him to add value.  The running back room is deep with Swift, Herbert and Roshon locks (though a surprise Herbert trade or cut wouldn't stun me), Homer probably in a good position to make it due to his ST contributions.  Teams carry what 4-5 RBs?  And possibly Blasingame in that number as a FB.  Ian Wheeler has also legitimately looked really solid as well, but the Bears can probably sneak him onto the practice squad.

As for WR you have Moore, Allen, Rome, Scott as locks leaving 2 spots for other guys like Pettis, Collin Johnson, Nsimba Webster, DeAndre Carter (another ST guy) and Velus.

I do think he'll find a way to make the roster considering his versatility as a WR/RB and return guy.  But it wouldn't shock me if he was the odd man out in a roster crunch.

It’s not that much effort to tell a guy to play another position. I view it as desperation to salvage a heretofore wasted talent who has multiple people ahead of him on the depth chart and no real spot to contribute

I hate to say it but I'm not finding a lot compelling in these first two episodes of Hard Knocks? What I appreciate the most about it is seeing more of our draft picks and Caleb in particular, but other than that, it feels lacking in anything for me to really hold onto. I don't have a ton of experience with Hard Knocks so I'm assuming this is how it usually goes but I thought there'd be a bit more into the fringier players, more fleshed out storylines about what they're working on, challenges, etc. But still, as a hype machine for this season, its working fine enough.

Anyway, my only two cents is I really hope Velus doesn't make the team because one of his biggest issues is one of the most damaging qualities a player can have: He can't hold onto the damn ball.

I’ve never been that interested in hard knocks because it’s just marketing for the league. Nothing consequential comes from it.

I was hyped for this season because of the bears potentially being relevant again, but the show itself is worthless. I wouldn’t expect much more. But I’ll watch as I only have one more episode of sopranos left and the bear season 3 has been a dud.

Just curious anyone remember if Jones' hand were a problem in college?  I remember issues with his route running but, don't recall any concerns about his hands.

it doesnt seem much different than other seasons I've watched.  I didnt really watch it until the most recent 2-3 seasons though so maybe previous years were better.  The most compelling part is always the borderline roster players trying to make the team and the best episode is always the cut day episode IMO.
