I'm sure there will be many breakdown videos coming out, this is the first one I've seen with All-22's and it focuses specifically on the first pass Caleb made on 3rd and 12 to get the 1st down with DJ Moore.  Pretty cool seeing the anticipation from Caleb as the window for making that pass was so brief and he read it perfectly, delivered the ball on time and got a tough 3rd down completion

Looks like there was the exact same opening/lane to throw to Odunze at top of the play as well.  Key to play is protection.  If he has time to throw a given play and the timing with WR is there, QBs will/should make those throws.

You knew this was coming

His infatuation with Kmet is weird. His going out of his way, not necessarily in this particular video, to horsefeathers on Moore is equally weird. He also did not seem real impressed with Odunze.

He definitely seems concerned about Keenan Allen too, talking about looking noticeably slow on multiple plays.  I guess my response to that is that he has never been a burner and its the first preseason game.  He'll find ways to make things happen.

Keenan is slow, but he's also the best route runner in the NFL so he still creates a lot of space. I'm not sure why he'd be surprised by this.

Ugh, I remember them doing this last year too.  I don't remember how much the starters played in the 3rd game.  At least we'll have Hard Knocks to give us some footage of the joint practices.

Kurt Warner spent most of his video talking about how much he hates any slight difference on how plays are run vs when he was in the league, but Chase Daniel gave Williams the glazing I was looking for.

His off-the-charts arm talent almost overshadows how polished and instinctive he is for the finer points of QB play. He makes stuff look easy that actually isn't easy at all.

At 10:12 of this video is the naked bootleg.  He fakes the pitch and quickly gets 10 full yards of depth behind the line of scrimmage, the end whose job is containment has to panic a bit to try to catch up to him and falls down 7 yards behind the LOS.

Does that play look familiar? It should. We have a recent example of that exact same play being called for a different QB, one who is known for his slow operation in dropbacks despite his athleticism.   So let's say instead of getting that full 10 yards of dropback, he's a step less fluid and starts turning his hips upfield at 7 yards (right where Williams' defender was)?

I'm not sure what play you are referring to re: Fields, do you have a timestamp for it? the link you gave for the Bears/Broncos game starts at the beginning of the game for me and Fields throws an out to the TE for like 9-10 yards - which seems good

Hmm, timestamp should be in the link but it didn't work.  It's at 8;09

It wasn't the same window.  There were over and under defenders bracketing each WR.  When Williams was looking to his right at Odunze, the under defender was still there.  When he looked at Moore, the under defender had broken off to pick up the RB who had chipped and released.

Yeah, I don't have much more than a pedestrian eye for football film.  My overarching point was supposed to be mostly that it was a good read, good throw and good protection.

In this and the one above I heard quite a bit for praise for the play calling, don't think we ever heard that much last year.  Have we've seen enough to say Caleb >> Justin?
