Just leave Palencia in for the 9th now.

Think so? I am not sure. Hope he pitches the 9th.

Hell yeah, Cubs take two of three from the Dodgers, Cubs looked fairly good is winning this series.  Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

I think we both said the same thing.

Probably were. Great win. Palencia did a nice job. Saved the pen a little.

Yeah, it was a huge help and that’s all that matters. Series W vs the Dodgers is always nice.

Really huge to start this rough 12 game stretch 2-1.  The pitching matchups against the Padres are absolutely brutal, so getting spanked by the Dodgers would have been bad news.

Cubs' offense and the pitching overall were really, really good in the two wins.  In the loss, bases loaded in the first with nobody out and the cleanup hitter at bat was (obviously) a very critical moment in the game.  If they are able to score a run or two there, the dynamics of the game probably changes significantly. Grabbing two of three from LA is a great series win. Oh, and the vauntedTM

Dodgers offense, which scored 5+ runs in their first 10 games of the season, was held to <5 in two of the three games this weekend.  And the one game they scored more was a lopsided loss.

Imanaga was SUCH a big signing. This team is in rough shape without him in the rotation

Cubs may have found a legit TOR in Imanaga..

Nice thing is that if Imanaga is effective over the next 2 seasons and the Cubs exercise their options on Imanaga he can't opt-out.

Agreed. Busch looks like a solid bat. Morel looks good as well. And Suzuki looks like a star. And if the pitching could get healthy it looks pretty solid. And we have a few guys who might help later.

Cubs offense looking like they're picking up where they were in Aug, which is awesome given it's early April and the weather sucks.  This is a fun team to watch, especially with the upgrades.  Belli still looks legit too.  Almost every position guy on this team seems like a gamer who do the little things.  Hopefully we have a fun year of baseball again.

Almonte has a filthy slider.  I'm happy Imanaga has kept the ball in the park so far and the FB at the top of the zone seems to play at least in this early going.  If he can catch Freeman and Ohtani whiffing on it then that's a great sign so far, though they're both LHB.  Humid day in Chicago is different than dry AZ air.

Add Horton to the rotation next year hopefully, and that's Steele/Imanaga/Horton plus Taillon/Wicks/Brown/Assad to play with as 4/5, with 2 of them potentially in the pen.  Little might even have closer stuff if he can figure out the control.

The position side already looks pretty solid before adding Caissie, PCA, Shaw, etc., and the depth is very good everywhere.  But let's not get ahead of ourselves LOL.

We might think the hardest job in Baseball is that of the owner, or the GM, or the players, or the fans that have to watch a bad team that they support. But spare a thought for the grounds crew that now have 11 days to get Wrigley Field spotless for the next home game, after the Dodgers and their fans came to town.

This is true. But how often does a team in the Midwest play a night game the night before going to the west coast? And really the biggest issue is going to be the playing field. I am sure the Dodgers are suggesting the field is not safe.

After reading this game thread after the fact, I feel like maybe next time you should relax a little bit more when it starts raining. That was one of the most painful reads I've ever put myself through, and the Cubs kicked the Dodgers asses.
