Is this true? I thought the game starts over

I don’t think this is true. Unless they changed the rule the game starts over.

It's a day game, so I think there's plenty of time to wait it out, assuming there's a clearing in the forecast, The league STARTS games every Sunday night later than this game could resume. So if there's a clearing and the head groundskeeper thinks the field could get in playing condition, I say wait it out.

And if the Cubs were on the losing end of this one (6-0 in 4th), I would probably be fine with it being called.

Well you did suggest common sense when you said they should resume. Wouldn’t that commoon sense you are referring to also be used when considering what the field would look like after 4 to 5 hours of rain? Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean you have to be a dick.

Yes, it’s all encompassing. You just weren’t bright enough to grasp that. Never stated to put the players in danger. Only said it’s common sense to play this one out. Please, no name calling either. It’s not polite in general but looks absolutely ridiculous from someone of your advanced age.

I’m trying to think of the last time a Cubs game started and had at least a couple innings played and then was washed out. I’m sure I have to be missing a couple games but the last one I remember is the Eli Marrero game in 2003

This is true. But how often does a team in the Midwest play a night game the night before going to the west coast? And really the biggest issue is going to be the playing field. I am sure the Dodgers are suggesting the field is not safe.

Because there’s a large difference in the score? Tie game fine. But when a team is up 6 you don’t scrap the entire game. That’s ridiculous. Not just as a cubs fan. If the opposite were true I’d not want that mulligan for the cubs either.

Years ago they actually continued games that were tied before and after 5 innings completed, and canceled/restarted games that were called before 5 innings  were played no matter the score ( other then tie).

I remember the famous game between Cubs and Dodgers that was suspended due to darkness (no lights at WF) in the 17th inning and was continued the next day and went 21 innings in 1982.

I’m not doing this with you again. I don’t think it they go 4 to 5 hours of non stop rain it is common sense they should resume, even if a team has a 6 run lead. I think common sense would prevail based on players safety. But you do you.

Next Sunday, San Diego has a night game in LA, and then travels to Milwaukee after the game.  The difference here being they LOSE 2 hours as opposed to the Cubs getting two hours in travel.

I think I've also heard this before.

I'm 40 minutes west of Chicago and the sun's out with no rain currently.

There's one thing unequivocally true Cubs middle defense >>> Dodgers middle defense, Betts is great and all but, just throwing him out there at SS or 2B could come back to bite them in the ass.

And no one said otherwise. We’re discussing if it makes more sense to cancel a game with a large scoring deficit, or to try and play it later. Following so far? Either way, common sense would dictate the latter option due to the score. You proceeded to tell everyone who posted anything here that the game is being cancelled. You don’t know that. You have no source. No inside knowledge of any kind and are, at best, rolling the dice on a 50% outcome so you can puff out your chest and say “see, I told you” if they cancel the game. That’s a very weird way to spend a Sunday, but you do you.
