Weather looks totally clear from 5pm-ish on, so it's gonna be a long day but no reason they can't finish.

We good at Baseball. 😄

I am stuck with the Dodgers feed. Announcer comment: “All these Dodger errors have an asterisk next to them.” 😂

I'm not sure what older tradionalists thoughts are, but why did it take 50 freaking years to get the DH in the NL? The games quality is so much better.

I don't care for the rule but once interleague play was the way of the world it made no sense to have different rules in the two leagues.

I only tuned in in time for that comment but I can imagine there have been other Homer comments. That’s why I like the Cubs announcers so much, they have always been very fair to the opponent.

There were two rule changes I severely opposed.  They were the DH and the extra innings baserunner.  I have largely accepted the DH with a shrug and it really doesn't impact my enjoyment of the game one way or another.  Extra innings, on the other hand, is still an abomination that I will be telling my grandkids about in 30 years.

You are way more optimistic than I am on this. I see a report the rain will be here until 6. Add 30-40 minutes to get the field ready and we are talking 6:30 to resume. They are not waiting 3 1/2 hours in a rain delay. Cubs will get screwed on this one. But that is what will happen.

It’s really too bad that only the Dodgers had to play in these conditions /s

It supposed to clear up around 430 or so, theyll definitely get it in

What are you seeing that I am not? I hope you are right.

I think it's more a concern of the amount of water the field has already taken on.  The rain will stop, but can the field be made playable?

1) the rain doesn't have to completely stop for the day for the game to resume

2) there's no reason to think they wouldn't wait that long.  The Dodgers have a night game in Minnesota tomorrow and the Cubs have a night game in San Diego, if this was Sunday Night baseball we wouldn't think anything of their travel schedule

I honestly don't know how the rain delay stuff works. Would they resume this game eventually with the Cubs having the lead? or are they just going to cancel it?

Only thing that will suck is that Imanaga likely is done now and won't get the W, plus now the bullpen needs to get 15 outs.

I hope that’s the only thing that sucks about this delay. But you are right, no way Imanaga comes back. So now we need the pen to go 5 innings. Which hurts them starting the road trip. And that is best case scenario.

If the losing team doesn’t bat 5 times nothing counts.

No sense in being overly pessimistic. If the score was 0-0 I’d agree they may wash it out but at 6-0 they’ll try their hardest to get through the game.  The Dodgers have a short trip to Minnesota for a night game tomorrow. The Cubs have a night game on the west coast but given their 6-0 lead will probably be more open to waiting it out

How many games do you remember there being a 3 1/2 hr delay? I don’t remember any.

I can't recall the specific games but to my memory this type of thing happens around once a season given the number of day games the Cubs play.

You say pessimistic and I say realistic. I don’t see them waiting 3 1/2 hours. If chibear is right and weather does clear at 4:30, sure that would work. But to just think they can play baseball afte 3 hours of rain in the outfield isn’t being realistic. Again, I hope chibear is right.

Completely anecdotal with nothing to back it up, but it feels like MLB has been waiting longer to get games in.  That may be related to the way the schedule is now where teams don't play each other as often, which makes the logistics of make-up games a potential nightmare.

I think the best chance is the rain ends earlier. Closer to 4:30. Then they will come back. But what also sucks is thrnCubs then have to use the pen for 5 innings. Not a great way to head west.

This is a fair statement and I agree with it.  Let’s hope they do. I am just not optimistic they will.
