Dumb question. Fields first half Hail Mary hit the ground, but somehow was called an int. Saw randos on twitter saying it can be overturned/stat corrected because it was the end of the half.

There’s no way that’s true, right. Started Fields in a 2qb league and want my 2 points back.

P.S. Today sucked. Tired of losing games we should win.

The guys on the FOX half time show suggested the same, that the interception could be adjusted after the fact.

That would be interesting.  I'm in a very tight contest and my opponent has the Browns D so I could use the 2 points taken away from him.  I would think normally you couldn't overturn it because the game continues with the interception which sort of locks it in, but since the half ended, it doesnt affect the game to change the call to an incompletion

Someone posted the question from Danny Parkins earlier. Would you trade this year's two 1st round picks for Herbert? At first I was like hell no, but now I would do it in a heartbeat.  Tired of gambling on another QB out of college.  Get Herbert here. The defense is trending up. Get a new coaching staff here. Playoffs in 2024 and SB contenders in 2025.da bears GIF

Still can’t believe Mooney didn’t secure that.

This season has had 3 of the worst losses I've ever seen the Bears commit. It's superstitious but I truly hope they're "getting them out of their system" and when they're competitive again (god willing, like, next season) we don't see anything like this again.

I hate defensive-focused team-building so much. At the end of games there will be passing scrambles and you need the QB who can make those drives.

We had one offensive touchdown drive in the entire game, it went two yards and we needed about six defensive penalties to get them.

I don’t know about that. The Bears as a franchise are absolutely elite at inexpicably blowing games. I can think of maybe a dozen games over the last 20 years that are on par with the 3 this year.  Maybe more than a dozen. It doesn’t even phase me anymore because I’ve seen them blow so many games that no other team in the league loses.

Give me a combo of Williams/Maye and Harrison/Nabers with a new staff.

I think you are going to be disappointed. I know people are going to be incredulous but I think Ebeflus will be back in 2024. Getsy is gone 100.

I am dumbfounded as to how out of sync Fields and Mooney have been all season. This is a contract year for Mooney, and he's killing his future. He was looking like a Bears #1 before the injury. There is no way he is back next year, IMO. They are definitely going to need to bring a decent free agent WR in to go along with a first round WR in the draft.

Scales are likely leaning towards taking a QB with the first pick.

Beyond all the other crap, the Bears possession while tied at 17, first play, Getsy calls a crack-block to Herbert that puts them behind the chains.  That's where the game was lost, I don't know if it's a "trust" issue with Fields, or Getsy' trying to outsmart the defense or Getsy' just plain stupid.  Why not keep the ball with Fields, get him on the move, looking to make a play with his arm or legs?  Fields has his flaws however, it's painfully obvious Getsy is not the OC that can put him in the best position to succeed.   If, unfortunately, the Bears do not end with the first or second pick and Fields is retained, Poles has got to find an OC that can play call to his strengths.

I really like the idea of Williams/Maye and Nabers/Odunze/Coleman with the first rounders.

Yep. I was hoping they could stick with Fields and beef up the rest of the roster, but I don't see Poles sticking with Fields with the lack of offensive production week after week. And each week, I'm leaning more towards get a new QB. Probably need to think about a better veteran QB to bridge the gap, also.

I feel kind of scummy for upvoting you but I think you're right.  This is the Bears.

I’ve always thought Mooney was a one-trick pony; speed being his biggest asset. Maybe the injury took that away

I said earlier this year that he was a solid #2, but I'm not sure I believe that anymore. He doesn't win his match-ups enough, doesn't win 50/50 balls, makes really poor efforts on blocking and just is on a completely different page than Fields. Just last year people were wondering if it was going to take 17-18M annually to retain him, now he probably gets a one year prove it deal for 5 or 6M from some non contender.

Silver linings, I guess we should be glad that we didn't find out the hard way that he's not worth committing money to.  He did us a solid sucking this year.

Yes, I don't think it would hurt to start getting Scott more snaps in his place, might as well give him a chance.

I don't know how many snaps DJ Moore played yesterday but he was clearly banged up, and it was very clear that whenever he wasn't on the field, Fields was much less productive. (Moore and Mooney were both targeted 8 times, Moore caught 4, Mooney 2).

Now, Moore is a transcendent player, but also, your starting QB can't be that helpless when he's off the field.

It's the perfect storm of flawed QB and OC's incompetence magnifying those flaws instead of working to his QB strengths.

As I told someone yesterday, this is where the 'ownership is the reason this franchise has sucked for 30 years' comes into play.  I don't trust them to make the right decision, I see them as highlighting the growth of the team and not wanting to replace head coaches every 2 years or some crap.

That said, if Warren really has the keys to the kingdom maybe he uses his authority to force a change...not sure he'd override Poles though if he decided he wanted to keep Eberflus,

I don't see how Poles can run it back with Fields. To keep Fields, you almost have to keep Getsy to avoid a third offense in his fourth season.

If Poles moves on from Fields, does Getsy stay? I would think he does for two reasons.

First, he's the incumbent and hand picked by Flus/Poles.

Second, who do you replace him with? A HC candidate that doesn't get a HC job but still leaves his current gig? That's a whole different group of candidates (Eric Bienemy for example) than the OC looking to be a head coach (Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik). And this candidate has to be desperate enough to work for Flus, who has a 8-23 record going into his third year, after which he'd be a lame duck coach.

If Poles moves on from Fields and Getsy is out at that point just lose everyone and start over with an OC hire to be HC.

It's the Bears, I'd assume unless they lose out everyone in the Poles tree aside from the OC will be back. Depending on where they will draft Fields may be back as well. The wildcard, if you want to call it that is that Fields is not tied to Poles.

Saw some of replays, Fields threw an absolutely perfect ball to Tonyan, too bad it was to him.  Kmet probably catches that ball.  After seeing the game ending hail mary I don't know how Fields, the team and the coaching staff aren't done with Mooney.  The failure to catch that ball is of the sort made by a guy who's checked out and done.  I'd make him a healthy scratch, start Scott and elevate a receiver from the practice squad.  At least the practice squad player will give a horsefeathers and put forth maximum effort, Mooney' tending towards Claypool in effort and focus.

I'm done with Mooney but it has less to do with the Hail Mary drop (which is a bit of an insult to injury - that's just an insanely hard thing to do with all the bodies flying around) - and more the whole body of work this season. Lollygagging routes, not coming back to the ball, drops, weak blocking. I dunno what it is, but it's not working this year.
