Teams are pretty terrible at drafting so I believe yous guys

No love for Malik Nabers? I'm reading that he's clearly the 2nd best WR in the draft. There was concern about Odunze's separation skills and his 40 was pretty damn slow.

If Sam Freakin' Howell can be swapped for a 3rd round pick, can we please get a goddamn 3rd rounder for Fields? Please?? Anybody???

Vikings got Houston's #1 so they have 11 and 23 now. Curious how far up they can move up to get their next QB.

I'd let them have 9 and one of the 2025 2nds for 11  and 23. Not sure that would get them who they'd want though.

The Vikings clearly want Maye. About as clearly as Washington wants Caleb.

Washington hired Kliff Kingsbury as OC. Vikings have Josh McCown as QB coach.

Kingsbury was Caleb's QB coach at USC. McCown was Maye's OC in high school.

Washington is not going to get Caleb. They are a prime target to trade up with for the Vikings in the pursuit of Maye (who I don't think the Patriots would pass on at 3).

Steelers got FOUR picks for Kenny Pickett (a 3rd, 4th and two 7th rounders).

Either Poles' asking price for Fields is too high, the league totally hates Fields, or there was nevrer serious trade consideration to begin with

Trading 1st Rounders for QB of Future

I thought this was a pretty interesting article regarding teams that have traded 1st and/or 2nd Round picks to move up and select their future QB.  The title "....fits the Packer Way mold..." is what caught my attention to read it.  And, generally speaking, the article looks at what the Patriots might do with the 3rd overall pick.  But I think it was an interesting read regarding the "prototypcal QB" for former Packers GM Ron Wolf and his many GM/Personnel Guy proteges.  Of the 8 QBs listed, 4 were taken by the Packers and 7 of the 8 were good to HoF-worthy QBs.  The only bust was Brohm (1 of the 4 Packers selections).

Anyway, I think it gives a nice breakdown of the five QBs that fit the criteria: Maye, McCarthy, Daniels, Williams, and Nix.

Quote from the article ....

"They’ve got to be winners," Gutekunst said

Another quote .... talking about Maye

He went 17-10 over two years as a starter at North Carolina so he has a winning record, but it'd be interesting to hear whether or not Wolf -- or any others from the Ron Wolf tree -- would consider him a "winner."

Wonder what they would have thought of this guy ....

Patrick Mahomes' Red Raiders went 13-19

When someone starts with that meatbally crap like the player is a "winner", I instantly stop paying attention.

Yeah, but you just don't understand.

It's not just an RBI ... It's a game winning RBI.

I think some may be taking the snippet/quote a bit out of context. Or maybe adding their own definition of it.  It's not the GMs that use team record as a measurable for "winner"; it's the writer. The writer then goes on to question "whether or not Wolf -- or any others from the Ron Wolf tree -- would consider him (Maye) a winner.

I took Gutekunst's comment "They've got to be winners. They've got to be able to win........" to be a little more nuanced than the team record/team outcome. I doubt he was referring to a QBs record as a starter.

I’m a fan of how JC Latham’s played this draft. No combine, only drills and interviews at the pro day, and walks out most tied to the Chargers at 6 anyway.

Chargers pick at five (Giants at six), and I see them tied to Alt just about everywhere.

I really think I'd rather not trade down at 9.  The QB frenzy is getting crazy and a legit blue chip taken will be there, and I don't think we will be drafting this high again for awhile

Yeah, I definitely like the idea of getting Odunze there. Some people are looking for 3T or DE, and I think we could use that, but having a top WR ready to take over for Allen after this season would be great.

I really hope we don't go with too run heavy a scheme. If we're not going to pass that much it might be suboptimal to use a pick for the third or fourth target. A DL choice might be more efficient. I'd prefer a higher volume passing game and another receiving threat to just go heavy on offense for a change.
