Afaik, FBI involvement has not been confirmed.

All we know is:

He resigned

The league was not involved

FBI did not raid halas hall today

Beat reporters have hinted at things like "shocking"

Everything else could easily be true or it could easily be a very successful troll job reaching the types of people who pretend to have sources for clout

So to catch up:

DC out under mysterious circumstances, internet going crazy

QB calls out coaching staff, calls reporters back to his locker to walk it back

QB2 released after two weeks

This is gonna be one hell of a 30 for 30 someday

Since Winning Time didn't work out, maybe Losing Time, a dramatic retelling of the Chicago Bears from 2013-2023, would work better.

I really wanna know more about Peterman. Is he actually out or are they just promoting Bagent and want to move him to the PS?  Was it always the plan to promote Bagent or did something happen to make them want to do it?   Is he moving to Burma?

I've been listening to the Score all afternoon and the hosts are speculating it's related to Fields comments today but there's no real reasoning behind that.

Also, they had Williams' lawyer on this afternoon and he unequivocally stated there is no legal action pending against him and also said there was no raid at his house or Halas Hall.  What a bizarre day in bears history.

Whats his favorite color?

Has he ever eaten spaghetti hanging upside down?

When he was a child, did his parents live in a nudist camp?

What are his thoughts on Jets Pizza?

I skipped from page 4 to page 8 of this thread and now I REALLY need to go back and read pages 5-7

The starting LT is going on IR with no warning and that's somehow the 4th biggest news of the day on a random mid-season wednedsay

The cynic in me is wondering if Poles, Eberflus and Getsy have figured out that the only way they’re saving their jobs is if Bagent is the next Kurt Warner.

Sending a message to Fields

Based on how the Bears have handled it, the only way all this isn't something very bad for Williams is that the rumors are involved with someone very close to him, perhaps someone in his home. IF that were the case it's possible the Bears are just treading extremely carefully but can't say anything even remotely specific on the matter, and perhaps to the point they can't be certain he isn't involved.

But that's purely speculation.  It could be the Bears also are just continuing on their often strange media decisions. But this feels different to me.

To me, the Peterman release is just to bump him back down to the practice squad. He's really good at holding a clipboard, and if Fields poops the bed on Sunday, they can start giving Bagent a look to see if the entire QB room needs to be blown up. Peterman has proven he'll never be anything more than an emergency replacement.

If I had to guess, management was probably not happy with Fields' original comments to the press and asked him to walk them back. If Fields continues to flounder (regardless of who is to blame), management may be forced to prove to the fanbase that Bagent is not a legit replacement candidate. A blowout in KC might be the perfect place to stick Bagent out there to sink or swim.

I'd guess Bagent has less than a 20% chance of being a good NFL QB, but he did show magnificent poise in the pocket, progressed through his reads and had pretty good accuracy in completing passes, moving the ball and putting points on the board, although it was mostly  against 3rd stringers.

I don't necessarily disagree, but it's too soon in the season to pull the plug on Fields. At this point, I don't see much hope in him ever amounting to anything with the Bears or probably any other team. He's defeated, you can read it in his body language and hear it in his voice. He doesn't have a clue how to make things better so he's reaching back to OSU days.

But, they cannot bench him this soon. If they're 0-6 or beyond I could see it happening.
