I assumed nyc market was getting the Dallas game at 4:25 this week but my guide is showing the bears chiefs game.  Thankfully I have conflicts and won’t have to sit through it but might just watch on fast forward to see how bad it gets.

The Bears won't, of course win, but, I'm strangely optimistic we'll see some good things out of Fields, a lot less of the garbage we've seen in weeks 1 and 2.

The timing on the Williams thing seems a bit weird, also. If he really did/does have CP on his computer at home, why was Williams given time off ahead of the supposed raid? Was Williams tipped off that a raid was coming, and he went home and watched tv instead of hiding evidence? Was he doing something during this "personal time" that alarmed someone to get the Feds involved?

Might need some popcorn for this one.

Put the popcorn down. It’s probably not going to be entertaining.

And there is nothing “weird” about the timing.

The situation here reminds me of something that happened at my kids school. A teacher missed some time for personal reasons and was subsequently gone from the school with minimal comment from administrators. There were all sorts of rumors but nothing confirmed.  Months later he was arrested for “sexting” a teenager in another state. The school knew what happened but obviously could not divulge with an ongoing investigation.

Yep. Not gonna be "entertaining"

In the case I referenced it was the husband (now ex husband ) of the principal of a school. The principal (who wasn't involved at all) still had a lengthy leave and the school was likewise very close to vest on the status of her leave.  Even my wife who had a relationship with the principal was totally in the dark for the first few days and thought it might be a direct legal issue with the principal.  Think that took at least a week until there were formal explanations at all, and even then the school wasn't divulging much about the principal's leave, which I think ended up extending a few more weeks.

So in the absolute best case AW is the "principal" here who's wrapped up a deep family matter, but there's enough other weird things I don't really expect that and presume it is directly him who's in deep legal trouble.  Feels like formal charges should be relatively quick, but maybe theres circumstances where those indictments could be hidden for a time or delayed for some reason?

My friend's wife scheduled a 7 year old's birthday party right at kickoff time on Sunday. Not sure if they just assumed the Bears game was a noon game, or they waited until the last minute to reserve the time, and only 3pm was available but either way, normally I would be pissed about missing a majority of the game. I really don't care at all.

Eventually Fields is going to have what passes for a good game for him.  Eventually the losing streak will end.  Probably not this week but you never know

To avoid going a full calendar year without a victory, their best chances are next week home vs Denver or in a few weeks home vs Las Vegas IMO

I assume that like last year they won’t beat an established NFL QB. It’s just too easy for them to slice and dice this defense and the offense can’t make up the difference. Vegas will be hard with Jimmy. Denver is possible with Wilson sucking, but they have to look at the bears as a chance to get right.

I'm too addicted to this lousy team to not watch. I also think Fields will be better. The team supporting him publicly has to feel good to him and the other players are likely excited for him if he is the locker room leader he's made out to be.

I’m there too. I’m hoping he improves but I have no hope for a win with this D

Prominent rushing QBs and their career fumbles per game:

Cam Newton 0.42

Russell Wilson 0.54

Lamar Jackson 0.61

Michael Vick 0.69 (nice)

Justin Fields 1.07

As a Bills fan, I'm surprised Josh Allen wasn't included on this list. He puts the ball on the ground a lot. Usually when scrambling and taking ill-advised hits.

Based upon what we've thus far seen from Young maybe, it's true that Poles was not enamored of any of the QB prospects and decided to roll the dice with Fields.  Had he been sold, I don't believe he would have hesitated to trade Fields and take his QB.

if you're suggesting Poles is good at rating QBs at draft time, how'd he miss on Stroud who is arguably doing well

im fully expecting the league to suspend play at soldier field due to the fact that they mis-stripped it at something like 95 yards and not 100 at this point

McCaskeys tearing the copper wiring and piping out of the Soldier Field walls and selling it for scrap.

He's probably not, more than likely just another Bears GM failure, it really is beyond comprehension how the McCaskey' who, regardless of the task, always get it wrong, it's uncanny.

Thats way too smart of a crime for them.  George would try to burn down Soldier Field for the insurance payout and not realize it's the Park District that owns it.

on that topic, has anyone else noticed the grass looks exceptional? like, has the Park District actually figured it out? Or is it too soon to know?

man, I just think he thought JF was the next Mahomes and flat-out failed to aid his development. That being said, I actually have some hope that JF can rise above the adversity. Even if he became an average QB in the NFL at this point, it would be an accomplishment given his journey. And I think given the Bears multi-generational ability to build a defense, an average QB could win a lot of games. Thats my biggest gripe with Flus, the D

but I've always been accused of being an optimist

All indications are they figured out the right grass and care last year. Though I think we were unseasonably warm late into the season (and they used a warm season grass).  And I think I saw Bhatkari said it was the best he's ever played week 1.

Apparently it was Flus who pushed for the warm season grass. So if he flames out, he'll at least still have left his legacy lol

Getsy is a terrible coach, such coaches do things like over-correct, for example, trying to make Fields into something he is not is an over-correction.  So, I fully expect an over-correction today, a massive amount of running.  Including too many designed runs for Fields, maybe, this will help keep the score respectable but, it won't show any signs of progress.
