It's a bad gamble either way and should be a fireable offense if it happened. Which it didn't.

There is no guarantee that they will be bad enough to be in the mix for whomever may be available in the next draft and it makes the team demonstrably worse in the season.

It doesn't have to be towards any specific 2024 plan. Picking a QB at 1 because that's what youre supposed to do when you have the #1 pick is pointless. If he didn't like those prospects you wait until your time.  There's about an equal chance of forcing your way into a spot to get a QB than needing a top 5 pick or whatever. The key is that it has to be the right QB and not letting circumstance aimlessly dictate when you make that big investment.

Except there is not an equal chance.

Yeah I'm all aboard the hate train for both poles and fields.

There's a hundred different paths poles could have taken since the day he took over.  I'm just not sorry we didn't take young.

I'm one of Poles earliest haters in some ways, once I realized what the 2022 plan was.

Maybe I've just had more time to be comfortable with my legitimate gripes on him now, but I find it hilarious the hard turn from the fanbase over two games. Probably all the bad things are a direct risk of the long term approach they took, so duh. But also any of the benefits of said approach haven't even had time to reap the possible dividends of it.

Here's a fucked up idea, 2023 another tank, with Eberflus, et. al., being the sacrificial lambs they were hired to be, hire Deon.  If there's anybody who sell Caleb Williams on being a Bear it sure as horsefeathers is Prime Time.

Unfortunately it's still a big uphill battle to even get the #1.

So prime is gonna convince Caleb to play for Bears.  Who's gonna convince Prime to coach for Bears lol

But yea, if they get #1 again all on their own, all bets are off, but 2 games in and it's all very premature IMO.

Deon is a college coach, He has charisma and name appeal that brings in top level recruits, but what has he done to prove he's an NFL level coach where recruiting means very little?

Bears are too conservative to even consider hiring Prime.

I know it's a completely radical idea, the most realistic hope for the Bears is them being sold.

Nothing, like I said a completely random and outrageous thought on my part.

I never ever bet on sports, outside of a fantasy league I'm forced to join every year, but I just can't foresee any scenario in which the Bears keep it within 12 points. With KC at -12.5, I'm incredibly tempted.

I bet really small amount just for fun, but had a good week last week, making like $20 off $5 worth of bets.  I may just plow all those winnings into it because yolo. Worst case I'm still at where I was a week ago.

Is asking the Bears to at least be competitive too much?  It's not as if they're completely devoid of any talent, managing to be competitive shouldn't be unrealistic.

I would maybe wait on a status update on Alan Williams. On the off chance that the D just needed Flus scheming it to be non-terrible, maybe that 12.5 line isn't enough payoff (but try and do an alternate line at like 9.5 with a related parlay)

Watched some analysis by Orlovsky, most especially on the route were Johnson, et. al. are wide open.  Fields loads up to throw, without question, he processes it, sees it, just doesn't throw the ball.  I'm not saying his pocket passing problems will disappear however, there's no question on some routes, plays he's seeing the correct things, just has to let it rip.  Justin if you're going to salvage you're career, you've got to hit the horsefeathers it button and let it rip.

Bears basically playing for their season.  Chiefs taking Bears lightly and playing with their food.  One quarter of garage time for Fields to get the Bears within 10.  I'd take Chiefs -12.5 but I don't think its free money

I dont think it was a hard turn, its always been lurking under the surface with many fans but there was just a point where the dam broke

I've heard Deion say he won't coach in the NFL because he doesn't think he can motivate guys who have already been paid.

Could be an issue in college now too but I think he stays in college for now.
