My guess is either they're in on one of these controllable players (maybe the Mariners for a younger arm + Ty France thing?, maybe Cease?) that is a pretty complicated, bigger deals, or its a scenario in which they are being overly cheap with their prospects in a sellers market.

I mean they almost have to walk away with one of ERod, Cease or even Flaherty or this deadline is an absolute disaster for them.

Ok, so what the hell are the Orioles doing? Tampa and Toronto make multiple deals. Houston and Texas make significant deals. Meanwhile the Orioles have added Shintaro Fujinami and that's it.

I think they should do a 1-1 swap of Grayson for Stroman.

Definitely.  Imagine how psyched O's fans would be if they walked away from the trade deadline with a 2023 all star starting pitcher and the cost was just some random dude with an ERA over 6 this year (please dont take this seriously)

About time. Those Mancini and Hosmer signings were such garbage.

I'm surprised the Yankees didn't trade for Mancini, they seemed desperate for a bat. Probably realized the Cubs were just going to release him

He's worthless.  Nobody is trading for Mancini unless the Cubs attached a prospect and paid his salary.

Peace out Mancini.  I wonder who plays 1B vs LHP now.  Wisdom?  Sometimes Candelario?

Candelario is starting at 1b tonight.  I think he will be the 1st baseman most nights moving forward.

I find it interesting that Candelario is the biggest move any team in either the NL central or AL central has made. I'm not sure anyone really wants to win these divisions.

We've got about an hour until that crazy flood of deals comes in one after the other. Fun times.

I hope we don't have that feeling where it's 30 mins past the deadline and we're waiting for the Cubs to do one more move and haven't heard anything and just waiting for a late announcement that never happens LOL

I wish this meant Mervis getting a shot at 1B, but as of now it just seems like the Cubs want to keep Wisdom on the roster rather than Mancini

I'd be surprised if one of Suter, Raley or Chafin weren't a Cub in the next couple hours.

Which, it should be noted, is fine. Wisdom isn't a great defender or overall hitter, but at least he can get on an occasional HR heater. Mancini can't hit and was also the worst defensive 1B on the roster.
