Yep, I’ve been using that for a while now and it works the large majority of the time.

Apparently despite all of this the highest the Sox can pick next year is 10th because of the CBA's anti tanking measures.

Quote

Teams that receive revenue-sharing payouts can't receive a lottery pick for more than two years in a row and those that don't can't get a top-six choice in consecutive Drafts. Furthermore, a club that's ineligible for the lottery can't select higher than 10th overall.

lol

I'm sure you aren't disagreeing but that's a good thing. Neutering those crazy high picks is about the only available mechanism available to stop from embarrassments like what the Astros and Orioles (and Cubs, to be fair) did last decade.

lol

What makes this even funnier is they got jumped by a 76 win team and an 82 win team in the 2024 lottery. They’re going to lose 220 games over a two year span and wind up with the #5 and #10 picks to show for it.

Well, the offensive explosion the Sox had in the 9th inning last night has carried over into today's game. Three batters in and the Sox have a 2-0 lead. "Glass Joe" Jimenez with a 2-run shot off A-Aron Nola.

Koyie Hill career: .207/.266/.287/.553

2024 White Sox: .188/.264/.288/.552

At first, I thought this post was saying that 45 year old Koyie Hill was playing for the 2024 White Sox, after about a decade of retirement.

And my first thought was "yeah, I guess that makes sense."

Yikes.

My wife is a Phillies fan so I was subjected to a couple of White Sox games this weekend....I am not blaming Grifol for this, but how is he not fired yet, or something.  I get they have no talent, but what a bad bunch of baseball players on top of it.

Because that would require Reinsdorf to continue to pay Grifol plus pay a new manager. And that seems like a very Un-Jerry thing to do.

I wonder how the White Sox lineup would fair against 3-4 innings of the Cubs bullpen. Or April Hendricks.

lol Fangraphs projected record for the White Sox based on Season-to-Date stats is 46-116.

On a side note, part of me feels like Reinsdorf is gearing up to move to Nashville.  There's no reason for them to be this bad, there's no reason to keep Grifol, the stadium is even more empty than usual and now he's making this big fuss about a new glamorous expensive stadium on premium land and having the state pay for it.

I mean I'm sure he would be happy to stay in Chicago if the public actually buys him a new stadium but he knows that it would be the 2nd stadium in 35 years he's asking the state to build for him and that the Bears are also currently seeking public funds for a stadium and they will always be a higher priority.  On top of that, taxes are sky high and the state is still broke.  It's the absolute worst time and situation to be asking for public money for 1 stadium, much less 2, and he knows that.

I doubt they will move but I also doubt the state will give in. I still don't know why the Bears and WS can't get together and fund some kind of campus project that will draw people throughout the year.
