I love that even when we have owners who don't want to spend we are still signing a big free agent every year. And that's not meant to be sarcastic.

This has a good chance to blow up like Heyward and Darvish, but I'd rather them just spend money than prospects on trying to find a closer.

Man, they're only doing this because Zobrist is likely gone. horsefeathers them for doing something they should have done BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED.

True, but aren't you surprised they aren't just pocketing the savings?

Not really. They'll just use it as an excuse to spend less going forward.

Well now that he’s tricked the tightwad Ricketts family into thinking they won’t have to pay him anymore so they could sign Kimbrel, Benny is free to double cross them and come back!

Awesome. Really interested in how long it takes him to get onto a major league mound. Over/under of around July 1st?

That’s fine

I don't love it, but hey, no loss of draft picks and it's not my money (horsefeathers the Ricketts).

I also don't know who we could sign this offseason to be the closer for like 2/$30 mil that would be better.

It’s really like 2.5 years $45 mil so while technically &15m a year it’s really more like $18 mil

Can't say I'm thrilled with 3/45 but I don't expect to live 3 years so just win now, baby.

Everything alright buddy?

Better than 3/$54

This is great. The pen has been stretched early and I think they’ve handled it pretty well. Now everyone can start sliding down. We have some nice arms who I don’t trust yet and could use some lower pressure reps.

Hopefully they can add another arm or two.

Now that this is happening, I'll say that there's things to worry about with Kimbrel, from the long layoff, to being almost 32, to any reliever being a roll of the dice to a certain degree. However, for a very, very long time Kimbrel has been insanely good, so there's plenty of reason to be excited about a player of his quality stepping into the biggest void on the team.

Just for the record he's not almost 32 - he just turned 31 last week.
