as much as i love the crowd going crazy (kerry's home run is probably my all time favorite) the boring ass 10-13 innings of this game provided us with the best crack of the bat I think I've ever heard. I've listened to it probably 5 times now

It’s not lost on me that the Wood and Arrieta dongs, and probably the Miggy one (it was a back and forth to get Chapman out of the game as I recall) don’t happen in a DH league.

Instead, you have WAY more DH dongs. I'll take that trade any day.

what a wonderful thread.

only one that comes to mind that hasn't been posted, jim edmonds' game tying home run against the braves with the throwback uniforms.

len kasper's finest moment as the cubs announcer, imo

Edmonds' dong against STL when he bat flipped and glared into their dugout was a good one too. I've never 180'd on a player before or since like Jim Edmonds.

Joakim Noah was my biggest, easily.

I never liked him...appreciated his contributions but still hated him.

i never really hated him to begin with. i was a big fan when he was in anaheim, so it was cool to see him do well for the cubs.

my cardinal hate wasn't fully realized yet at that point, either.

I always hated the fact that he was on the Cardinals primarily because I couldn't bring myself to hate him. He was a really fun player to watch. Same with Pujols. I was always in awe of him as a player, and loved watching the amazing things he would do during his STL tenure, but it killed me that he was doing it for the Cardinals.

The contrast between Edmonds's 2008 Padres numbers vs. the Cubs always amazes me.

All my favorite recent HR are accounted for.

I'll always hold a special place in my heart for Bob Dernier leading off the 1984 NLCS with a dong, though. Not to mention Sutcliffe hitting one to lead off the third a couple innings later.

There was a lot of fun in the ‘84 team. The absolutely beat the crap out of Eric Show. Up 2-0 going to San Diego, oh what could’ve been. :(

There was a home run that Sammy Sosa had against the Brewers, midsummer 2003, that went like 530 feet to CF, left the ballpark. Its the closest home run ball I've ever seen near the scoreboard. sort of an obscure game and I haven't seen the video since.

If anyone knows what game I'm talking about help me locate the video.

The Game 2 one was an absolute shot but it hit the old camera well -- not exactly close to the scoreboard.

ETA: man, I miss Sammy a lot.

A friend at work surprised me with a Sosa bobblehead from the 2001 ASG (Seattle). It is amazing and I cherish it dearly.

I often wonder how good that 03 team would have been if Solomon Torres wasn't such a POS.

I became a Cub fan in 1983 mainly because our local cable company picked up WGN that year. Because I was in high school I was able to watch darn near every game. If I live to be 100 I'll never forget Ron Cey shuffling around the bases on his little penguin legs while Dave Parker fumbles for the ball in right field.

Speaking of random memories, I'm looking for a video of a play that probably happened around 1990. I believe Dawson (but maybe somebody else) was attempting to throw a runner out at home. The catcher blocked the plate, and when he tagged the runner he dropped the ball. The runner never touched home plate, and I believe the runner started arguing with the umpire because he wouldn't call him safe. I think someone on the Cubs figured it out eventually, got the ball and tagged him out eventually. It was one of my favorite plays as a little kid because of how long it took and how absurd it was, but all the details are really fuzzy now. Does anybody remember this play? I don't have enough details in my brain to search for it now, and that's even if the video is up anywhere.
