Relying on David Peterson to save the bullpen. This should go well.

Could you just plug in any pitcher in the rotation with the exact same sentence? That’s what is sad. If it was only Peterson who made that sentence sound ridiculous that wouldn’t be so bad. But sadly, any name you put there sounds equally ridiculous.

They are the Cubs best. But hardly big time innings eating pitchers. Cubs pen has pitched a lot of innings.

But we have Civale now . If Peterson tanks Civale can go 4-5 if needed

Those 7 game againts Pit / St Louis really important as they get closer to the deadline . Pit has Ascraft and Skenes line up

To be fair, Peterson has been pretty damn good in 2 of his 3 starts so far as a Cub.  Held the Brewers to 2 runs and the Orioles to 1.  The Cardinals game was ugly, but if he turns out another good performance tonight, it's hard to call it a bad trade.

Well, we need him to.  Valdez has been middling this year but he's capable of shutting out anyone on a good night.

Let Carson or Miggy hit there, instead of Bregman.  Aside from PCA, our catchers have the highest wRC+ with RISP.
