  1. How do you "take advantage of your eyes"? Asking for a friend (Mike Olt). Primarily by opening them and looking at things.
  2. Ross doesn't get to have gut feelings. He was brought in to do as he's told. At least that's what I hope...
  3. Why not? He's got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
  4. best part 2019 RF - 300 innings 2B - 244.2 innings 3B - 154.1 innings That was because of Todd Frasier. He'll be their primary 3B this year barring any big surprises.
  5. Yes, that's part of why he's getting money comparable to a post-prime outfielder instead of the 28 year old who has a 3 year ERA identical to Chris Sale, who as luck would have it also just signed, but for twice as much AAV. Only thing better than that would be having him on a series of one-year optional commitments I don't know if you're being intentionally daft, or if one of your multiple personalities thinks he's an owner so horsefeathers the players, but you pay Kyle a little bit more than you absolutely have to because you paid him peanuts while he averaged 3.3 WAR during your team's most important 4 year stretch in a century.
  6. Yeah...feedback in your headset makes you sound like you've sustained a head injury while doing a keg stand...
  7. We all wish he was like Rizzo, but so far he hasn't shown it. Personally, I'd still rather see him over Zagunis when facing a mediocre lefty. How else are we going to find out if he can fix his lefty issues like Rizzo did. To the bigger point, Rizzo >>> Schwarber But 2018 vs LHP Rizzo: 169 PAs, .248/.315/.369, 88 wRC Schwarber: 91 PAs, .224/.352/.303, 85 wRC Obviously a one year dip for Rizzo on this, but a 15% walk right against lefties from Schwarber shows there is a chance of something there. Then again...maybe they just don't think it's worth it. Heyward actually did better against lefties than both of them (97 wRC) Once again, selection bias here. Rizzo sees a lot more plate appearances against premium lefties than either Schwarber or Heyward. Again, I'm all for letting Schwarber try to figure it out against lefties rather than giving those at bats to frikkin' Zagunis. I'm just saying, the comparison isn't apples to apples.
  8. That's true, but I feel that Schwarber is a guy like Rizzo, where as Zagunis is not a guy like Rizzo. Schwarber is not a “guy” like Rizzo. Zagunis is not a lefty. Your words are broken. We all wish he was like Rizzo, but so far he hasn't shown it. Personally, I'd still rather see him over Zagunis when facing a mediocre lefty. How else are we going to find out if he can fix his lefty issues like Rizzo did.
  9. Now post their starting rotation...
  10. To pour salt on the wound: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=minormi01&t=p&year=2018 What a second, isn't Joe into advanced metrics and what not? If so, why isn't Schwarber at DH? Because there's selection bias in those splits. He doesn't see very many left handed hitters, and the few that he does see are guys like Rizzo who are going to skew the stats. That's the idea, anyway. It's certainly possible he jut has reverse splits, but I'm way to lazy to do any real digging into this.
  11. If this is our starting lineup with a DH, left handed pitching is going to be really, really painful to watch this year.
  12. I guess that's the benefit of living on the west coast. No one is talking about the Cubs game. Secondary benefit of watching the game on delay is it forces me to avoid this bummer of a forum.
  13. I watch every game on delay in my ongoing attempt to never, ever watch commercials again.
  14. There's no reason extending Baez needs to be linked to extending Bryant. Ideally you sign them both to long term contracts, but since Baez is much more likely to sign an extension than Bryant, you extend him when you can. Unless you're in the camp that extending Baez is a bad decision, there's no reason to wait for Bryant to sign an extension first. Agreed. Of course there's a number that makes sense for Baez, I just don't know if 'fresh off his probably fluky best season ever' is the time to start those discussions. I agree. He's 26 years old at this point, so I think it'd make sense to see what he can do this season. If he's a 4+ WAR player, then you give him something pretty decent. If he's a 2 WAR player, you reevaluate.
