That's a weirdly strong stance. Why? I don’t think managers can make a large positive influence, but I do believe they can make a large negative influence. Ross could work out just fine, but I do think the best manager candidate would be SLIGHTLY more strict than Joe on day to day operations of the team. Maybe I’m completely off base, but it doesn’t seem like Ross is the right guy to do that. Either he won’t at all and it will be status quo (which could very well work, I have my doubts), or if he tries to be more strict I’m not sure how his former teammates will respond. I don’t want to overemphasize what I said above, because I think it’s admittedly a small chance that it blows up. I’d rather just not take that chance. In general, I want somebody who has previous coaching/managing experience. I get that catcher in MLB is almost a pseudo coach. I’m just very, very uncomfortable with Ross, and maybe I’m not even 100% sure why.
