  1. 1. Schwarber pinch-hit HR over the video board in RF. 2. Baez makes a game-saving play on defense in the 8th inning.
  2. Yeah, I'm oddly confident that if we win tonight we'll be in decent to good shape against the VBs. Pretty much house money at that point. They’ve been doing a lot of things well, but they’ve gotten fairly lucky with their starting pitching over this 8 game stretch. Even against the Tigers they gave up rocket after rocket for outs. That’s not likely to continue. I’ve actually been pretty happy with the Cubs bats since the Tuesday game against the Pirates. Felt Mikolas was giving up hard hit outs as well. But then again, Jon Lester has been giving up some walks and rockets and not many runs have been crossing the plate, so...
  3. Celebrating a 4th consecutive NLCS appearance either back at Wrigley or spraying all over the Miller Park clubhouse would be glorious. Losing to them again would not be any worse than losing to them yesterday.
  4. I’m a pretty negative person when it comes to the Cubs, but some of you are lunatics.
  5. 1. A’s 2. Indians 3. Rockies 4. Brewers 5. Dodgers 6. Braves 7. Red Sox 8. Yankees 9. Astros
  6. So you can all have a gif prepared for when we lose tomorrow. http://www.gifbin.com/bin/052012/1337705364_soccer_double_headshot.gif http://gif-finder.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Funny-Double-Fail.gif
  7. I just want to reiterate that I hate small divisions with such a large reward attached to them. And this isn’t just because of our current situation. I’ve been harping on it for years. Tying for the best record in the league, in the best division in the league and ending up in essentially a play-in game is just stupid. You will never convince me otherwise.
  8. Nice 0-2 pitch. Be nice to get the 8 hole hitter out for once this weekend.
  9. You just can’t be swinging at double play pitches ahead in the count.
  10. Again, a Brewers pitcher is pitching like crap and not really getting hurt by it.
  11. Tickets getting very affordable. If I lived in a Chicago I would go. If I had school age children I would take them.
  12. Wrigley might have a lot of empty seats today.
  13. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24853543/mlb-breaking-monday-division-tiebreaker-doubleheader Pretty interesting and succinct breakdown of the pitching scenarios for all 4 teams playing today. Basically, Cubs are in the best situation by far. If Quintana is nails today not only would it be awesome to win this game, but there’s a good chance we face a team in the NLDS that has really abused their pitching to get there.
  14. Had not really thought about the logistics of the Dodgers/Rockies needing to know where to go as soon as their game was over. Makes sense.
  15. I’m glad this game is at noon. Get it over with. But I’m trying to understand why ESPN would want the rights to these tiebreaker games if they know they’re going to air them before the MNF time slot. Is the main reason they want these games to keep Fox and TBS from airing them during MNF?
  16. I think I bat a righty before Murphy, Zobrist, Rizzo. I could totally see Counsell starting the game with a lefty reliever just for the top of the order and then going to his “starter.”
  17. I’ve been a total lunatic this week. That said, the Cardinals are done, the Brewers don’t bother me. Whatever happens happens, but I’m really excited because we have just as good a shot as anybody to win the pennant. I’m extremely proud of the 2018 Cubs. Time to actually enjoy why we are fans of a baseball team.
  18. Regional divisions. Blow up the AL/NL. I want to hate the Cardinals, Brewers and White Sox.
  19. We will now have seen the core of this team play in every conceivable game except a Game 7 of the NLCS. Technically, there could be Game 164 and so on, but that’s getting a little silly.
  20. Great job walking people with multi-run leads...
