I put zero faith in this guy but I would guess that at this point this is the kind of thing they're haggling over. I kind of took the Duensing signing as a signal that the FO knew what the upper bounds of Darvish's price would be (e.g. Darvish's camp was asking for $25 per year).

 

I could see the two sides having a rough agreement in place, say 6/150, but still needing to figure out things like a NTC, when to place any opt-out(s), get a physical done, etc. That would also jive with that Brewers insider and the sudden pessimism coming from Twins folks.

I'll believe the Brewer guy that this is done (and at most we are down to semantics/waiting for everyone to get in a spot to announce it, Theo/Ricketts were out of the country some day(s) this week I believe), he deserves the benefit of the doubt, and the cat guy probably isn't right or we are past a big sticking point like he's talking about. But if he is right I'd guess we are at about 5/115-120 with the 6th year being a team option but vesting for IP (or whatever) for like $30 mil and a ~$10 mil buyout.
